Hey all I just bought my new Stinger GT1 and haven't filled the tank yet. I was told by dealers and other that putting regular gas in the car is just fine, but premium is preferred because of the performance. To save money on gas will it hurt to put regular?

It's best to do whatever the manual says.

I only use 93 octane from ExxonMobil. The price difference between 93 and 89 octane for a full tank is less than $4. It isn't even worth considering lower octane.

They were correct, you can use 87 in it, which is what my dealer put in mine and I got 3 MPG less and less power than I did when using 93.. but it cost less at the pump each time.

This is a scary question on here. Bottom line is, it definitely won't run without gas, so put gas in it. The octane level is entirely up to you. My personal experience is I've run regular and premium while getting the same average mpgs tankful after tankful.

Enjoy your Stinger!

I use the highest grade possible. It runs better, cleaner, and better efficiency. Despite a V6, this is the thirstiest V6 I've ever seen. This was a bad vehicle to buy if you are concerned about fuel costs.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
IMHO you bought a car for the performance why worry about a few dollars per tank of gas, put the good stuff in you will be happier. If your worried about the gas bill you probably shouldn't of bought the car.

John, there are people on here who are rabid about using premium. By their logic only a fool would use something less than premium in their high performance car.

To answer the question you posed, your dealer is correct. Your owners manual and your wallet need to drive the choice you make. Don't let anyone shame you for making the economic decision you chose to make, whether you choose to spend more or less on gas.

Regarding opinions, well, we all know what they are like.

Oh, good - another octane war thread. Can't get enough of those ...

OP - there's plenty of other threads on here beating this to death. Suggest you do some searching and I'm sure you'll find lots of opinions on the subject.

Congratulations on your Stinger.
Agree with the post above OP. Some search on the forum will return a lot threads discussing this topic.

Please use the search, or just look in your manual. The dealer is correct - they *recommend* 91 or better for performance, but it won't harm anything to run on regular. Also, there is no difference in fuel efficiency. I've gotten my best MPG running 87 on road trips. If I'm going to the drag strip, I'll put in premium.
