G70 2019 Model Year changes! (Korean spec)

This is not Stinger related, but same company so I assume you would be interested.

The Genesis G70 19MY changes have been released for the Korean market.
I translated the text for you guys. I am not a native speaker so forgive my english. ^^

The changes are:
1) Electric trunk and electronic parking brake for all trims
2) First ever made 12.3" 3D digital cluster and improved navigation system
※ DMB is the TV broadcasting network in Korea, it is only for the domestic market.
3) Dynamic AWD system, a better fuel economy and new 19" sport wheels
※ Dynamic AWD system offers to switch to a 100% RWD mode
※ The "new" sport wheels are the wheels that are currently offered in the US market,
they were not available here until now.



I guess all of these changes will be applied to the next year US model, with maybe some other stuff (12.3" monitor? ambient lighting? rear LED tail lights? who knows..)

The rumor says that these changes were part of the upgrades kept for the 2020 facelift, but after the announcement of the new 3 series - better than expected, they suddenly decided to apply some changes changes in fear to lose sales next year.

In Korea, people who bought the 18MY are quite mad at the moment because they didn't expect so many changes after only 1 year.

What do you guys think?
Is it a jerk move to add these features after only 1 year?
Would you like the same cluster in our Stinger? Maybe the same AWD system?

Nah, I don't think it's a jerk move. I honestly feel like BMW and Mercedes have had to step up their game on the new models because of competition, some of which I do think is coming from Korea. I hate these new all digital clusters, maybe I'm just old school but I'm so glad the Stinger has the analog sport gauges. There are only two changes here that have really piqued my interest, the improved fuel economy and the ability for the awd to be switched to rwd. Any idea on the fuel economy numbers?

I think it is a jerk move. What happened to the typical 3-5 year life cycle of a model. You would expect some minor changes every year, but nothing drastic. And in the final year, I'd expect some limited, souped up model. I do think that there should be minor changes/improvements every year, hence the justification of holding out purchase or buying previous year's at a significant discount. Now how big of a change in the G70 offered in Korea is subjective - but all those items listed to me is pretty significant. For me, I would love to see the Stinger have an all out 12" digital instrument panel with customization, an AWD system that can switch to 100% RWD, and better fuel economy (which is probably from the ability to go AWD to RWD). We already got a peak at what the digital instrument panel looks like and what it can do on the new K900 and it's fricken sweet. These days it's all about customizing to the driver's preferences......we can change the drive mode, the ambient lighting, the various safety features, etc. Why not have the ability to customize the instrument panel. I already like what I'm seeing with Audi's and Mercede's.

Looks promising for my 2021 model year when my current lease expires that I might get some nice upgrades. I leased just because I wanted the surround camera but bring on the other upgrades!

I am curious to see what it looks like in real life.
There is an option to enable/disable 3D mode (it seems to use a little camera that identifies where the driver is, in order to create a 3D image)

That looks freakin amazing! And yes i'd be pissed if I bought the first gen. But if Hyundai was able to offer this new panel to existing owners in some substitute/swap program, then that'd weather the storm. Would love to see this in the Stinger.
