I like what I've read and seen about the Stinger GT2 and am seriously considering a purchase in the near future. I recently test drove a 2019 GT2 AWD and was thoroughly impressed (I've been driving C6 Corvettes for the last 11 years) with the car. The point of hesitation I'm having is in regard to getting the car serviced and any warranty repairs done. I've visited a couple of the Kia service departments here in SE Michigan (my wife had a Rondo and a stepson has a new Sorento) and have not been impressed with what I've seen/heard. Does anybody have a recommendation for a shop in SE Michigan that has a good Stinger tech and actually respects their customers?

A question for you.

Here in Australia, it is illegal for a manufacturer to not honour the warranty (or in fact restrict it in any way) if a car owner has their car serviced by an independent licenced mechanic who follows the log-book service schedule, rather than by a manufacturer-aligned dealership. This is how companies such as Ultratune survive.

Do you have the same allowance under US law?

OP: the odds say that two-thirds of Kia customers are positive about their experiences with Kia service centers. There are more professional Kia dealerships/service centers all the time.

And welcome to the forum, btw.

@Manaz my understanding is that warranty work can be performed by any reputable shop, as long as Kia receives documentation.

Not just warranty work, any servicing. Vehicles warranty is maintained in Australia even if the vehicle is never serviced by a manufacturer-linked dealership, as long as it's done to the specifications of the service schedule (the same things done at the correct time/km intervals, using appropriate parts/consumables, and the work is carried out by licenced mechanics).

The ACCC has expressly forbidden manufacturers (or their importer agents) in Australia from voiding warranties under those circumstances (not that they don't try it on occasionally).

I'm not really concerned about the Kia corporation standing behind their warranty as many states (including mine) have lemon laws that require manufacturers to buy back cars that spend a certain number of days in the shop or can't be repaired after a certain number of tries. My concern is the ability of the techs and the management dedication to customer service at specific Kia dealerships in the area. I'd like to identify a reliable dealership in my area w/o having to find one by the time consuming (and frustrating) trial & error process.

I meant that. All regular servicing work/maintenance is part of keeping the warranty viable. Just keep a paper trail of everything done to your car and it should all be good with Kia.
