I have just ordered a Panthera Metal GT Stinger with red interior. Unfortunately I am being told a realistic delivery timeframe of Dec 2021 given all the Corona virus related delays and semiconductor production issues. With this delivery timeframe I should be getting the Australian MY22 model with the updated Kia badging.

Whilst I am patiently waiting I am enjoying keeping abreast of all things Stinger related via these forums.

Welcome to the hive! Lots of great info here in the forums

The real reason for taking a long time is that you guys live at the far edge of back and beyond. :D You did say that you're waiting patiently. That is a gift.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your brand new Stinger GT! What will the Stinger be replacing for you? I'm glad you found us. :)

Welcome

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
If you're thinking of buying any mods you might as well purchase soon. Intercooler and sway bars will probably take months to arrive also.

I will be stepping out of a 2013 Holden VF Calais Sportwagon. I figure the Stinger will give me the practicality I still need to get a small dog in the back and also give me an injection of performance fun. The Calais will be staying in the family as I will be handing the keys to my son.

No mods planned as I will be enjoying the Stinger as delivered. My days of tinkering with the mechanicals are long behind me :)

Welcome to the forum. Long wait ahead unfortunately. I waited 4 months back in the day. Please tell me the Calais is a V8. They are worth so much more at the moment.

Unfortunately it's the V6. In hindsight I do wish I had purchased the V8, but having said that I have really enjoyed driving my car.

I had difficulty deciding what to replace it with and after doing much research, including reading the posts in these forums, I settled on the Stinger. I think it will provide me with a good combination of practicality, performance, and luxury at a great price when compared to anything else available here in Australia.

Hey Drricho - exactly the Stinger and colour I am contemplating. Would you mind stating your purchase price and if any extras were thrown in. There doesn't seem to be too much discounting at this stage. Doesn't hurt to haggle though which I'll be doing today or tomorrow. I've been quoted November for delivery by one dealer and 6 - 9 months by another. Cheers

Hi Cummo63. Not much discounting when I was negotiating due to short supply and good demand. I talked to about four dealerships and some dealers were even pushing the line that if you pay a little extra you'll jump the queue and get a car earlier, which is complete bs. I settled on a dealer which I thought was good to deal with and very transparent (however, only time will tell if this was the case). I agreed on standard price as per current offer on Kia' s website and they threw in mats, cargo protector, and bumper scuff guard, plus 10% off all servicing and parts. Good luck with your negotiations, it appears it will be a long wait whatever dealer you go with.

Oh, and small deposit of $500.

Welcome! Post a picture when that baby comes in!

Hi , some information for you I have been waiting as of 4th Dec 2020 for My Pearl white Stinger GT 2021 here in Perth Western Australia and as of today My Stinger is still unscheduled for production. I am one of four that ordered that month and was told ETA June and still its unscheduled meaning it is still not inline for the build production, so no date no time not even in line for production there is 30+ stingers ordered by two Dealers here and they are all unscheduled so I would say the the wait time will be longer than six months. I was told I would be getting a 2022 at the same price but it is only a badge change. My Wife is South Korean and contacted Sohari Plant where the Stinger is made for Australia and they had no production issues other than early Jan but are now in full production but they are three month behind schedule. The local Korean market was six month to delivery and People that ordered in Jan got there Stinger June coming from information from friends in Korea. It will be six weeks from the time your Stinger's scheduled date. So when you ring your Dealer ask if it is scheduled then you know its on the way, if its unscheduled join the waiting game and remember how long I have been waiting :) 15/9/21

Thanks for this update - very informative. I was told last week that me order has now been placed with Kia - previously it was being held by the dealer as Kia were not accepting orders for Stingers for a couple of months. I was also told that the wait would likely be another 10 to 12 months from now - obviously I am not very happy. Let us know if you have any further updates.

Will do and I hope the wait is shorter than mine also the Person the wife contacted in the South Korean Sohari Plant said they have not been told anything about the Stinger been discontinued from anyone in top Management and said it may have been a rumour started in the West to boost sales ?. Also the New Chip plant in South Korea will help with the shortage very soon :) took them a year to build the plant from scratch and will be one of the leading edge plants in the world.

Holy crap. They may have cancelled the Stinger by the time they get around to making yours. And I thought 4 months was a long time back in 2019. Any thoughts of cancelling and going with something else.

lmfao what a circus!

congrats and hope it comes out built properly! :p

Another Aussie here. We placed our order for the Stinger GT in May and expected date was July/August - in August they said December date is expected and unoffically told us that KIA are allocating Australia's would be stingers to Europe and America as they are bigger markets. Ridiculous tbh.
