My service advisor said that she and her shop just completed an instrument cluster swap for a GT base owner. She said the GT1/2 cluster is plug and play in the base GT. I am taking her word for it so I can't vouch for the info. This fascinates me for one simple reason. I own a 2014 Silverado and they have made it prohibitively expense to upgrade the internals (radio, cluster, steering wheel controls, etc.). To get steering wheel audio controls, you have to upgrade the instrument cluster (no kidding). I won't even go into the difficulty with aftermarket radios or screen upgrades. It is ridiculous. The fact that you can swap clusters in the Stinger with no great effort is refreshing.

I remember seeing some one on here was wanting to do exactly that and all it took was a Hyundai/Kia scan tool and some code to be input to add and subtract features that a base GT would not have

I'd like to see some followup on that. I have difficulty buying a "no great effort" swap across the board. I've seen all kinds of subtle differences within the same model/year depending on which factory a VIN comes out of. Let alone the data transfer from the old cluster to the new to maintain correct mileage and not get into a "tampering" situation.
Clusters aren't just like any other part of a vehicle, it's almost like the VIN itself in a way. I've had instrumentclusterstore.com do my cloning for me because of this and I was happy to be above board without having to rely on the dealer.

I don't think that is true. reason being, when a gt1 or a gt2 is purchased, you automatically get the upgraded stereo package which includes a lot of the info that gets processed through the cluster. nav, stereo, etc. so even if you get the cluster, certain things wouldn't work, like was posted above. so why do it then? I had already inquired about updating the stereo in mine, and the service department manager said it wasn't worth the effort to do it because even though would have the upgraded stereo, I couldn't use half the performance stuff. I guess I will have to buy a rear ended gt2 and a head on wrecked gt and do some surgery to both. franken-stinger. muahahahahahahaahahahahaa

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I wouldn't be trusting this. Being genetically a technophobe anyway, this would just keep me awake at night. If you want the bigger cluster then get the higher trim. Trade in your GT and pull the trigger. That's just how I would do it, if a GT (for any reason) no longer satisfied me but I still wanted a Stinger.

It’s been done successfully. The features that the donor Stinger has that your GT doesn’t can be turned off by the dealer, otherwise an error populates under that menu option. The mileage can be adjusted as well.

Good luck.
