I have no idea what’s going on here. Went out for a drive tonight, Map 2, Petro 94, didn’t do a WOT all night, just a few mid-rpm squirts.

Half way through the drive, JB4 app stopped connecting, went straight home, popped the hood and started checking connections, everything looked fine, then saw some smoke over the passenger side turbo, turned out it’s my fuel adapter wire melting. I thought at first my zero maintenance OCC was dripping on it but it’s dry. I don’t see obvious damage other than some liquid in one end of the adapter. Didn’t pull the wire yet, letting it cool off.

the wire isn’t obviously close to anything that might make it melt other than that it’s 8-12 inches from the turbo.

thoughts on what’s going on here?

pic attached, I have a video but I can’t seem to attach it

Can't really see what you're referring too but if the adapter or any wiring is touching the turbo it can melt. And the melt damage would be visually obvious.

yeah, hard to see without the video, as my post mentions, it’s 8-12” from the turbo, there’s nothing around it

The adapters come on and off in 10 seconds so just pop it off for a closer look.

Yup, did that today now that it’s cool, was definitely the zero maintenance OCC leaking though I can’t find any source of leak and it’s nice and empty (but a small amount of residue inside so it’s clearly working).

Made the assumption last night that the JB4s issue connecting via Bluetooth was somehow related to a damaged wiring harness, melting fuel wire adapter which was dripping on the primary cat and causing the smoking under the hood, and obviously didn’t want to be man handling a melting connector on a hot engine right before bed :)

inspected the whole wiring harness today and all connections, no damage, Bluetooth connects today, still nosign of oil leak on the OCC, so just a really odd coincidence?

which connection does the JB4 pull voltage from?

It can take a few min for OCC to drain fully so maybe when it gets full to a certain point it's leaking? Just keep an eye on it, it's a simple oring seal so if oring was compressed or pinched that could allow leaking too. You can feel around for any vacuum too with engine idling.

JB4 powers off the TMAP sensor with the red/black wires.

Thanks Terry, I'll check for leaks on that OCC, and also see if I can get it more vertical
