Hi everyone - finally registered after lurking a bit. I'm in a 2018 GT and just got my Stinger out of the shop. Unfortunately, I clipped the side of my one-car garage at a slow speed and needed to get the front bumper removed and repainted. The bodywork came out great, but now my front parking assist sensor seems to be hyper sensitive.

Before I go back to the shop and spend another few days out of my Stinger, I wanted a sanity check. Based on the owner's manual, the sensor should only go off at it's farthest when 39 inches away from another object (4-108 of the manual). Mine functions within these parameters fine, but it also now triggers intermittently when I'm 10+ feet away from a car in traffic, or sitting at a stop light with no cars in front of me.

This is not normal, right? The last thing I want to do is be out of my car for a few days only to find out that this is as designed. I originally thought that this was a sensitivity setting, but wasn't able to find anything to adjust the parking assist functionality in the dashboard screens. Perhaps the sensor(s) is(are) dirty?

Anyone have any experience here?

My 2.0 Premium I had was very sensitive as well, going off while sitting at a red light with cars in front of me quite often. Also badging in at work it would seem like a flatline everytime. My GT2 is no where near as sensitive as the Premium was. Badging in barely registers on the GT2, and only once has it alerted me while at a red light. Very different between the 2 Stinger models.

Thanks, that's actually really helpful. I know it wasn't like this when I dropped it off, but they did a factory reset on the settings so I'm curious if how it is currently is how it is supposed to be, or if my original settings were the norm. I bought the car new but who knows what happened to it at the dealer before I purchased it (transport, weather, cleaning, etc.).

Seems to be a 50/50 split on sensitivity based on the collision assist thread I was looking at yesterday.

I haven't had the general over-sensitivity problem you described. However, I have had a few occurrences of sitting at a stop-light, say 10ft. behind the car in front of me, and have the front warning indicator light up/chime. I've assumed that it's because of light pressure on the break - perhaps the car is slightly creeping - and it stops when I apply a little more break-pedal pressure.

It's probably just the sensitivity of the front sensors. I also get beeping while at a red light with decent space between me and the next car, sometimes it pops with a car one lane over as well.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Thanks guys, all very helpful. I'm toying with the idea of just having the dealership take a look at it next time I take it in for an oil change. Would avoid me needing a rental car from the current shop.

That's more or less my issue, but the warning persists even when braking. Thanks for the info here.

Were you able to adjust the sensitivity at all?

I don't know anything about adjusting sensor sensitivity; this is the first I've read about adjusting them. I do know that for unseen reasons the sensors can sing out. But is that really a problem? Unless they are going to start up and not stop for extended moments (very annoying, that would be), I don't worry if one of the sensors lights up and beeps at me once or twice. I've had it occur most often when stopped at a traffic light. It's not consistent when it does make a sound; sometimes there is no visible reason for the sensor to respond to. Other times a pedestrian has passed by (but not seemingly close enough to set it off); or, as others have said, a vehicle is in front and this time the sensor seems to want to say something about it; but only once. The other time I've noticed the front sensors sounding off is when you dip into a rather acute gutter and your front bumper comes close to the road surface. But every time that occurs it is only one or two beeps and the sensor(s) light up briefly and go out.

If you experience a time when the things are beeping incessantly, just reach down and turn them off until you need to park. I wouldn't take my car in and leave it for this.

(Oh, and welcome!:D)

Mine has beeped on occasion for no apparant reason, but pretty much a non issue for me. It usually just beeps once or twice and then it's done. Half the time I don't realize it because the radio is too loud and drowns out any beeps it might be producing :) This HK system fixes a lot of problems :)

After I lowered mine, I have them going off quite often. I don't really care to be honest. I just turned the volume down to "1" and can't really hear it
