Hey guys. I have been posting quite frequently now... I continue to find rattles all over my Stinger. The most recent (past 2 weeks) sound I discovered is a high rate rattling in the front dash. When I drive over rougher roads at about 70-90 km/h, you hear the rattle at a very high rate. It feels like something is loose, as it always is with rattles.

Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to be something under the front dash speakers or something under the vents where the windshield meets the dash.

If it is something under the front dash speakers, does anybody know how to open it up?

Thank you so much everyone!

Hi
I have had the same issue from the very beginning.
I visited a KIA dealer two times.
First time they removed the front dash panel and the screen and secured all wires - the rattles were little more quiet, their frequency changed and they were not occuring so frequently but they were still there (when I was driving on paving roads I could hear that something was lose).
I left the car in the dealer shop one more time 2 days ago and took it back just a few hours ago. This time they told me that they had fixed rattling of the front airbag assembly (passenger) and the screen mounting (which was resonating with the dash) - again they had to remove the front dash panel.
I had no time to check the result too thoroughly but it seemed to be OK. Will test it fully tomorrow and let you know.

I know it's probably ridiculously cold in Canada right now but try to replicate the sound with your sunroof open. I have a pretty good rattle that sounds like it could be coming from the dash/windshield area but I realized it's actually coming from the sunroof. With the sunroof open the sound goes away.

In that case there are silicones/greases that can help (from what I've read. I haven't tried myself).

You also might want to slow down a bit on rough roads. If you're driving 50 mph over rough pavement it might your suspension trying to liberate itself from the car.

I was able to pinpoint mine and it was coming from the dash close to the center speaker - 100% confirmed with the sunroof closed and open.
It was present in warm and cold days - not very loud but annoying as hell (my car was fully „silenced” by a professional company so I could hear these rattles quite distinctly).

Thanks for the input everyone! I am unsure how to explain it but it occurs on normal roads that are slightly more coarse than let’s say a brand new road. It is very subtle but annoying, given my OCD-like personality -.-
@Przemek if you can let me know the result that’d be kindly appreciated! I am unsure if this is worth opening up the front dash panel...

Will do. I think this is the same as mine - sometimes when I was accelerating gently and the road was not too smooth I could hear something like a losen wire hitting the interior of the dash. When I heard it for the first time and visited the dealer an old service guy couldn’t even hear that (the sound frequency was pretty high) so I had to force a young service assistant to go for a drive with me. He heard it immediately and they have been very supportive to tackle the problem since that moment. The front dash panel is not so difficult to remove (this is what they told me) and then you have access to what is beneath the dash. They have done it perfectly and there are no any damages or marks. I will go for a long drive on roads when the problem was always present and let you know.

Hi Guys,
I took the car for an intensive test drive today including roads where the rattles were always audible. They are completely gone.
I hope this is permanent and won't show up in the future.

To summarize this is what my dealer did:
#1 Removed the front dash panel to get access to the area beneath the dashboard.
#2 Secured all wiring.
#3 Corrected screen mounting.
#4 Corrected front passenger airbag mount.
As for today these actions have solved the issue - if there is any change I will let you know.

Good luck with your car!

Thanks so much for the update @Przemek ! I will bring this up on my first service :)

I having the same issue, has anyone been able to pin-point the problem?

Duuuuude. 2 posts above yours.... they describe how to solve it.

They corrected three different things.. You are saying that all three things contributed to the noise? That would take my KIA dealership a month to complete. haha.

Not to mention....
"#3 Corrected screen mounting.
#4 Corrected front passenger airbag mount."

What does those even mean? New parts? Tightened some screws? How was it corrected?

Just trying to get a little more information.

To be honest this is exactly what they told me. My service manager told me that they opened the dash and they were pressing all components packed there and when something was moving / rattling they secured it. They could not specify which specific component was the main cause. As I wrote before during the first attempt they secured all loose wires - it did not solved the problem fully and I had to take the car back to them one more time.

The second time they told me that there was definitely a problem with the screen mounting - but I have no further details. Now it is 100% solved. The good thing is that only the front dash panel has to be removed and it is not so complicated task - I was worried that they could have damaged something but they assigned their best mechanic for my case. I saw pictures with the panel removed and there are really many things that can cause the rattling.

I have regular service maintenance of the second Stinger scheduled on the 19th December and then I will ask the manager for more details about this operation and maybe for some pictures (already bought a bottle of good whisky for him :) ) I will keep you posted afterwards.

I have been having what sounds like the HUD rattling. When i place my hand on the frame, the rattle stops. I spoke to the service adviser yesterday and he said to bring it in Monday and they will take the frame off and place some felt tape in there to try to fix it. I'm hoping that helps.

Unfortunately the service manager was not present when I took the car to and back from the dealer. So I have no further news. My problem is gone (I drove around 1000 km till today) so it seems that they've done a good job.

I have this exact same issue. Did you ever fix this?

So the dealer said they placed felt tape and I guess maybe they did because it worked some.
Honestly I took a folded business card; slid it into the space between the frame and the glass, that fixed it completely. I had forgot about it until you quoted my post. I’ll pop the frame off one of these days and add more felt tape.

I slid the card in so far I can’t get it out but you can also BARELY see it unless you are looking for it.

Ah OK great, thanks for getting back. Is the frame held in with clips or a screw? Just trying to work out how to remove it, or if it's best left to the dealer to do.

I let the dealer do it, I’m sure it’s not hard but I don’t want to risk damaging it and having to pay out of pocket to replace it.
