so as the title says, I just noticed both my front tires are worn into the chordes on both outside edges while the center of the tire has drastically more tread left.
Very symetrical wear though, doesn't look alignment related.
The rears are fine. My car has the staggered set up and I run 38 front, 36 rear which is exactly what the door tag states.
So unless I'm way off base, this tells me the front tires are way low on pressure.

Has anyone had this issue and zeroed in on what the actual correct pressure should be? I figure I'll bump to 42 for starters but if someone knows it would be useful information.
I run dedicated summer tires btw and have a seperate set of snows. So this is on my summers which see way more useage. I didn't notice anything when I took off my winters but they were on smaller wheels and not staggered so probably have different pressure requirements anyway.

Michelin summers are soft compound. aggressive cornering will do this no matter what the psi. I know, because I've been running 40+ psi all around for years and my outer edge LF tire wears past the tread first. haven't worn it to the cords yet, but give me a chance. hah. the reason why the LF outer edge wears first is because of onramp donuts, which I treat like some sort of skid pad, can't help myself, it's too fun.

yeah I agree on that, and I certainly do push it. Just surprised now that I look at my purchase history and I got these just before I put my summers on LAST YEAR, so I drove ONE single summer and a month so far this summer and they'll already fried.
jesus
I do drive a solid 25k a year, but still. Those summers probably haven't seen 20k miles.

Same here, in a dilemma whether to change or not. Will go for ps5 but 4 month wait for delivery.

I've already made my mind up that next set I'm switching to another longer life tire. I wore out my Pilot Sport 4 tires and replaced with 4s but the cost of that was huge and I just can't justify it anymore when I spend most of drives in traffic.

just yesterday I put on Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 XL
switched from the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S because of the dismal tire life

we'll see if these are any better.

How many miles are you guys seeing? Looks like the 4S has a 30k mile warranty:

Most drivers can expect to get 25,000 to 30,000 miles out of a set of Pilot Sport 4S tires based on driving habits and road conditions. The tires have substantial tread depth to begin with, measuring 10/32 inches when new. Michelin also optimized the tread pattern to distribute wear evenly across the tire’s surface area.

The Pilot Sport 4S comes with a 30,000 mile treadwear warranty. If the tires wear out before reaching 30,000 miles, Michelin will give a prorated credit toward a new set. To qualify for the warranty, the tires need proper maintenance and alignment. Aggressive driving can accelerate treadwear as well.

I sure didn't put 30k on it just in one summer. I do put summers on pretty early, like April at the latest, and I run them as long as possible, usually until November, but still.

Plus, how would one prove how many miles were on it?

My guess is it's mostly done through tire centers or dealerships who may have noted mileage at the install, but wouldn't hurt to try a claim, right?

Update. Now I have the opposite issue, wearing in the center. Last week when my car was in the air to check out the oil feed hose to the left turbo, I noticed that the RF tire is down to the wear bars in the center. This is a first. the psi as indicated on the TPMS screen starts at c. 40 psi and goes up to as high as 44 psi. This is actually c. 4 psi low - as confirmed with two handheld gauges - so, I've been running warmed up at c. 48 psi, which is way too much, evidently from the center tread wear. By the way, the reason why the RF is the tire I am referring to is because it is most of a year older than the LF tire, being replaced after the original of the pair was destroyed, otherwise Ima pretty sure both front tires would be showing the same center tread wear evenly - as it is, the LF is somewhat behind and hasn't reached the wear bars yet.

I'm bumping up 2 psi cold from what the door says on this set and see how it goes

I'm approaching 15k, and the rear tires are starting to get very close to the wear bars--which seems usual for Stingers. I have an appointment tomorrow to swap out for Conti DWS06+ tomorrow. I gave my Stock PS4S's a good sendoff this weekend and today by Taking her on a couple of long, windy road trips.

But I have to say I'm looking forward to it getting below ~40F and Still having decent traction.

If ever there was a thread worthy of a picture.

This is that thread.

unfortunately i didn't think it was spectacular enough for a pic and they are long gone at this point
They looked exactly like tires worn into the cording at the outside edges.
The rears had much less wear but still needed replaced with the fronts getting replaced
