What does everyone have their FCA set on? Early, normal or late. The manual is vague and I really don't want to test it

I think you are talking about the adaptive cruise, that’s different the the collision warning.

Adaptive cruise is in the windshield. I do not see a grill camera on my GT2 AWD. No camera protruding on the front grill. Is it hidden?
What are the exact purposes of both the windshield and grill cameras? Confused ... From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I have mine set on early. It does signal an alert at times but it’s never brakes for me.

There is only a camera in the windshield and a radar in the grill. The radar is the square flat part in the center of the grill.
There are not two cameras.
The setting is only for FCW, not the actual FCA emergency braking mechanism, so you can safely tinker with it to see which sensitivity level suits your driving style best (see page 5-65 in the US manual). I have mine set to normal (default).
The grill camera would have been for the SVM 360° camera, but we didn't get that option in the US, at least not on the 2018s, so the lens protrusion isn't even there. The grill component for FCW/FCA is only the radar sensor. The windshield camera does supposedly play a role too (multiple references on pages 5-68 thru 5-77), but exact functionality isn't explained. Maybe one of the Kia safety/tech videos has more detail, but I haven't seen one yet.
When FCA does kick in, the emergency braking can be quite surprising, at least the first time.
Yea found that out the hard way this morning. Snuck between car in front and car just barely outside of blind spot warning zone on right side and almost flew through the windshield when auto collision applied brakes.
Granted I was probably (well I was) too close to the car in front (and collision warning sound did come on) but this is a Stinger and every once and a while I want to execute a draft and pass ;-)
Anyway I turned out to be more of a dick than I thought after the hard braking of the collision avoidance turned my smooth pass into a cut in front and brake maneuver. Not cool. may have to turn it off.

Seems to me like this tech is more likely to cause an issue than to prevent one?? Have to find a way to test this in an open lot to see the effects

Only when you drive like a maniac (sorry, JDP)! 
I drove for a couple of hundred miles back from a meeting in a workmates (non-KIA) vehicle yesterday, which has adaptive cruise & forward collision avoidance. First-time experience for me. Once I figured it out, I found it to be GREAT for high-speed cruising on the freeway, but once traffic started to build as we got closer to the city, it really impeded our progress due to how much it would slow us down before I changed into a clear lane. I found there was a point where it became unusable for my driving style (probably similar to JDP), and turned it off. I did have to "force" an issue to see what happened - at speed limit in right lane approaching an on-ramp, watched merging traffic pay the usual lack of attention to adjusting their speed and simply cut right in front of me. The braking was quite hard, but appropriate for the sudden obstacle that "materialized" before us.
I think I will find these features useful, but certainly too intrusive in moderate-heavy traffic..

Think I will keep it on normal for city driving. I'm not young and a "try to get in front of everyone" type of driver anymore. Like to smell the roses at age 55 now. Thanks for all the input. Drive safe to see the next sunrise all.
In my opinion the collision warning sound is useless. If I'm in a situation where I need a warning that I'm going to plow my $50,000 car into a wall, it's already too late. I'm turning mine off today.
But the collision assist braking is good tech for the most part. If I'm going to plow my $50,000 car into a neighbor's child running out into the street, I damn well want those brembos to save a life (and if you haven't seen the Stinger YouTube vids showing how the collision avoidance and those Brembos save the mock pedestrian you really should check them out, they are something).
But like everything, you can't have your turbo and race it too. If you want to save the kid, you can't pass like an ass... like me. And for the record, I'm really not that bad. Just have a fast new car and enjoy having a little fun... occasionally)

That's happened to me before as well. I learned to work around it - but in the beginning when you don't expect it - it's really aggravating. And, yes - the people you "brake-checked" think you did it on purpose. It's crazy - but the nature of the beast, I guess. You'll get used to it if you leave it on. And you'll learn to turn it off as needed, on the fly - without even thinking about it, when you need to...

The camera on the windshield is for Lane keep assist. Which I haven't tried yet but it worked real good on our 2015 genesis . Although didn't use it all that much less I was tired and on a 2 Lane Rd. helped out. The cruise control works pretty good but it can tend to be jerky it's fine if you're on the freeway out the middle of nowhere. I'm pretty sure it has a manual setting for regular cruise the Genesis did I just can't remember how to switch it over . The best thing I could say to everyone that this is the first time that they've had these options, is to turn them all off get used to driving the car then start playing with them One at a time otherwise if you have them all on all the bells and whistle's will drive you crazy until you know which ones are which .

Hahaha. Though the ‘pull up’ I was thinking of was from passenger style planes from the movies. Not sure if it does it IRL.
