Forbes Magazine Review on Stinger Testing

The high speed on-ice exercise in the Kia Stinger GT boosts my confidence to the stratosphere and leaves me giddier than a toddler at Disneyland, but the engineers observing my behavior know the truth. Their meticulous work over the past few months, fine-tuning and polishing the sedan’s dynamic characteristics in advance of its launch later this year, are the real reason why the automotive enthusiast within me has been so captivated — they’ve done a superb job.

That's a pretty encouraging article! I'm comfortable enough feeling confident that the Stinger GT is going to be a driver's car for sure. I'm ready to start hearing comments and opinions from the devil's advocate.

That journalist is pretty good at what he does. I almost felt like I was in the car as I read it. Nice article. Thanks for posting.

OK, I think we've a reasonably assuring picture on handling. Let's hope the ergonomics will be up to snuff.

One aspect I am curious about: How good will be the interior materials in terms of quality and durability. Any comments from those who've had long term experience with Kia interiors would be welcome. My expectation is that since the BMW 428i Gran Coupe is a standard Kia is aiming toward, let's hope Kia is placing some emphasis on interior materials' being comparable to a BMW.

How far below BMW 428i quality is the current Kia Optima? I have a feeling the Stinger will have better interior quality, fit and finish than the current generation Optima but not quite up to BMW standards. I read that even the G90 Genesis, which is very close to being on par with the top brands, still falls a little short. They're so close but not exactly there just yet. So I have to guess that the Stinger will bring their A-Game but still fall a little shy of their ultimate goal.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Cars & Tech. on youtube.com has a high res video on the interior of a Stinger. The interior is clearly different from the Bauhaus aesthetic of BMW, and reflects the ex-Audi affiliation of the Kia designer Peter Schreyer.

Unless they've gone downhill since I last saw one at an autoshow, I wouldn't put the Optima below BMW in terms of interior quality. Especially when comparing to the 3 and 4 series. The 7 series is going to be a bit of an exception since it's their top end car.

We got a decent look at the interior in the Chicago Auto Show videos I posted a little while back.

i'm always happy to read positive reviews of this car. the only thing that's starting to worry me a bit is that people are really putting the stinger on a pedestal. i'm a little worried that when the car is officially launched it's going to have people's expectations way too high. maybe i'm just being paranoid.

Remind yourself that this is, after all, a Kia. If there's one thing we're NOT at risk of, is peoples expectations being too high for the car. Sure, maybe enthusiasts such as ourselves are working ourselves into a froth over how great the Stinger will be, but for the general public the bar has been set low decades ago and is still playing catch-up with the actual cars Kia has been producing. My biggest worry is the number of people who will be dismissive of the Stinger as a legit premium(ish) sports car out of brand snobbery.

I know everybody thinks about performance first and foremost but what good handling means to me, your every day ordinary driver, is safety. If there's an accident situation you need to get out of and your car handles really well it's that much easier to avoid the accident with a car that's nimble on it's...tires. :)
