Took my GT1 in for scheduled maintenance to the dealer last week, went in early at 5k miles and 5 months. Did not have any issues to report but they had the transmission shifting software change to add to the oil change.
When checking out, the cashier noticed I used normal blend oil and not Synthetic. He informed me that Kia "required" it for the turbo engines. He also said I would be hurting my engine because I was not using premium gas. By the way, the total cost was $28.00 for 7qts of oil using a coupon sent to me in the mail.
He made me feel like I was neglecting/hurting the car and might be a problem with warranty.
After I got home, I did some checking and there is no mention of synthetic oil in the manual, only oil rating. I ended up calling the Service manager to verify the oil installed was appropriate for the Stinger and using lower octane fuel would not damage the engine. He confirmed this and said would speak to the cashier. Feel much better now.
