Hi all, thanks for letting me join. I’m from Australia. I have signed up for a new StingerGT, (GT2 equivalent in the U.S.) I’m not sure when it will arrive. ETA - months as opposed to weeks, however after lots of research I am prepared to wait for what I want. My present car is the last Australian Commodore, which was based on the European opal. If you put this car and the stinger side by side you would see a close likeness. I’m looking forward to the added extras of the Stinger and the fact it’s not a common car here - yet.

Welcome

Welcome @cegan00 , to our stinger forum, so you have a ZB Commodore, I know that last model Commodore, so what colour Stinger GT have you chosen, and where in Australia do you live..?

Hi DCBStingerGT,
I’m in country Victoria. I’ve decided on the ceramic silver GT. Part of the reason was because I really liked the ZB and the similarities and extra features made the choice easy. Yes, it’s pricey, but even the Toyota Camry SL couldn’t match the features of the Stinger. As stated, it could be quite a while before I receive it, so I’ll just have to rely on YouTube videos.

I know waiting is going to feel like it takes forever, but I had to wait 4 months myself for mine, so I know how it feels, but worth the wait, I'm near the airport.

You got the Chroma Blue? How are you enjoying your Stinger?

I purchased it Nov 2017 and took delivery exactly 4 months to the day in March 2018, I do have the Deep Chroma Blue, and I love it even more now.

Good stuff. A quick question if I could. Did your Stinger come with any tinting at all - even a slight tint? Reason I’m asking is that the dealer is offering to tint mine for an extra $2000. My ZB was slightly tinted so I’ve declined at the moment and said I’d wait and see.

Welcome to another Aussie. $2k for tint.....lol and FO! Stinger comes with a light tint from factory but most of us go aftermarket as well for a darker look. Get it done privately and save yourself more than $1.5k.

Welcome!

As others have said get it done by a pro detailer / tinting shop... and save a boat load of cash... I paid $400 for Suntex ceramic tint on mine... I can almost guarantee you the dealer is going to farm it out and pocket over $1200-1700

Welcome to the hive ceagan. Always good to see another Aussie on the forum. The Stinger will be a step up in performance from the ZB. I also had to wait 4 months for my Stinger. I am also currently waiting for a Ford Everest Sport which looks like that will be around the same time too. Waiting is the worst. I always try to work the tint in with the price of the car. $2000 is a ridiculous price unless it is a gold tint.

That’s what I was hoping to hear. Appreciate it.

Thanks for that. My previous car had a light tint and that suited me fine, if the same goes for the Stinger.

Thanks Nasscar. I’ve had quite a few new cars and this is the first time I’ve had the hard sell from the dealer: paint protection and tinting for $2k. Yeh nah I’ll wait thanks.
