So i noticed this last night, i have never hit anything and just in case i went back through the last 3 days of me driving from my dashcam just to make sure. I think it happened while i was at Canadian Tire but parking mode on the dashcam didn't pick anything up except 1 clip of a tree moving in the wind.

thew tire and wheel have zero marks on them and the damage is only on the flat part so im not sure what i could even have hit and not noticed it to scrape it that badly

The only good thing is i get 3 years of paint and wheel correction as part of my warranty so it will be dealt with for free (pretty sure i still have to read that bit of the paperwork lol)

EDIT: so after re watching everything this is the only thing that i could have done to cause it. this bush but if that's enough to rip paint off KIA definitely has a paint issue as i have parked in that same spot so many times in the past in different cars and have never had a issue

Well, based on the brown marks around the gouge, it does seem like something hit the car. Some kind of rubbing occurred, but I don't know what would rip into the paint like that.

for sure something hit it, just no clue what. the only thing i have come even remotely close to hitting was a squirrel that refused to get out of the way.

thinking it was someone taking something out of a store on a flatbed, but whatever just more annoyed then mad really since *it will be fixed for free* ... speaking of wich i guess i should go read the papers to see if it actually will or if i should change my mood to mad

I’m not so certain that that will be covered. I’m curious, however, what they will do.

My dealer said "anything that will fit under a business card is covered" in the damage to paint insurance (cost $870, iirc).

Looks like parking lot damage to me. No bush would create that rubbing around the gouge.

so i just read the warranty details, and it is covers up to $1000 canadian, so like $47.50 US i cant see that costing 1k to fix but im sure the dealer will find a way lol

Sorry to see that, i too hope that a small bush would not "gouge" the paint!

Just curious, what kind of dash cam do you have?

i have a Thinkware f800 not really impressed with the video quality at all, and some of the options are a bit annoying like the inability to mute the prompts to connect to the cameras wifi at every startup without also muting parking mode incident recording notifications.

and just got back from the dealership and it is covered, the cost will be about 250 so thats a bit higher then i would like for such a smallish issue but it still beats paying for it.

Excellent news for the repair.

Thanks also for the info on the cam. Based on the pic you posted, i would have argued the video quality is rather good. I just started looking at these so the opinion is appreciated!

no problem, the real issue is when your trying to read license plates. they just came out with a updated firmware today that has "increased video quality" as the main change so i will let ya know how it looks. but yeah overall its a good camera, memory card compatibility is not great apparently, as they sell there own branded thinkware memory cards at a decent markup, but i have a lexar card that works fine in it.

it (mine at least) came with a 16gb card and if you are not trying to record long road trips or something that should be plenty for just normal dashcam use.

looks thorny... maybe a rough touch up to get the color right will work. then rub the heck out of it

I've had nothing but rotten "luck" trying to rub out touch up paint. It turns dark to almost black (this is Silky Silver, though). So rather than fight these occurring in the future, I got the PPF back to the windshield. I bet that the OP's damage would have been nothing more than a minor scuff if there had been PPF "armor" in place.

Hey bud i do understand your posts. Its like me if it was RAINING MONEY I WOULD GET HIT BY A BRICK!

rubbing the touch up isn’t what I was saying, sorry. Just the areas around where it is scuffed. I remember your posts about touch up being awful @MerlintheMad
