Took my new Stinger for its first good run this weekend. I loved the drive. But I noticed a lot of road noise at speed (80mph) on the motorway - much more than my previous 5-Series. Wind noise was fine but the tyre noise on certain surfaces was pretty bad. I have 18'' Continental Contact 5s. Has anyone tried any sound deadening with success?

Also there was a few rattles/vibrations from various areas.

There should be NO rattles or extraneous noises. Mine is totally silent. Road noise: the surface definitely contributes the single largest difference. On most surfaces the tire noise is either negligible or acceptable. But some are so coarse that the tires howl. I have my Pilot Sport 4 tires back on, and they are noisier than the Nitto Motivo A/S UHP tires that I went through the winter on. The first thing I noticed when I took them off and put the Pilot Sports back on was the return of a stiffer ride and more tire noise. Not bad enough to make me give up better cornering! :D But when I hit a particularly coarse stretch of highway, I have to turn my music way up, or off. I'm just glad that most road surfaces aren't that bad.

What about the infamous hatch rattle or the sunroof rattle? I take it you never had any of those issues?

You might check online tire supply sites to see how those specific tires rank in terms of road noise.

My Stinger is much quieter than my Sorento. In the past, I have had new tires make a dramatic difference in how much noise there was on certain road surfaces.

As to other noises, I have none - and I don't use the entertainment system.

Do you know when your car was built? Mine was collected new a week ago but was actually built in December 2017.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

IIRC you thought you were getting a MY19 build. Did you question the dealer?

Build date does not apparently make any difference in which individual vehicles get afflicted with one or more extraneous noises being produced by this or that cause. My build date is in my signature.

Had a bit of the hatch rattle, but backing out the rubber doodads a turn or too quieted it. Mostly. Roads in my area are spectacularly bad.
