Hey guys,

Been in the group for a while. I have 2019 Kia Stinger GT2. I am having my first baby, due early March. Been doing some homework on this, so far I got Graco SnugRide SnugFit 35 DLX and Munchkin Brica Elite Seat Guardian Car Seat Protector. I did check Graco's website and they do say seat protector are fine as long as movement to seat is under 1 inch. Seat doesn't fit behind me so I have 2 options for now, middle or behind passenger. I think I am going to go with middle as I want flexibility of carrying passenger when needed. I am planning to have everything checked out by local fire department when I do install.

1. I am not sure if I should get seat covers
2. Anything else I should do/be aware of related to car?

I’ve tried the middle. It doesn’t work well. We used the Chicco Keyfit 30 for 3 kids so far. If I had to do any rear facing seats I placed it behind the passenger side. Both my wife and I are not exactly super tall.
I tried seat protectors and the underside “non slip” grip started to pull up the color of my red seats. They would even get stuck. I went without them for a while, but even after that the seats ended up leaving dents in the leather. It’s taken a while without them being in the car to go away

I would just use a blanket folded to take the acute pressure points of the baby seat. my goodness the world has changed since I put babies into the back seats of our cars. the only resemblance to today is the rear-facing position. back then the entire baby seat weighed less than five pounds, was a single injected piece of high impact plastic, and had a pull out adjustable single-piece leg that doubled as a handle when carrying the baby. now these things are as complex to get into and out of as a fighter jet harness and provide about the same impact protection. go with God my child.

As hard is it may be to swallow, your car is gonna get dirty. Took me a bit to adjust but just remember it can be cleaned. Definitely would put the kiddo behind the passenger especially for keeping an eye on the lil one. Congrats!

Easier to put them behind the passenger to get them in and out without wrenching your back.

I've used a seat protector since day one to prevent creases in the leather, no issues.

Protip is to move the passenger seat all the way forward, then kneel on the seat when you're tightening it down.

Good luck and congrats!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Thank you guys, I will install the seat behind passenger. I think my wife would be sitting in the back with baby for now and I won't be going alone anywhere. I think we will probably get third and bigger vehicle when this stops working for some reason. Not sure if rear facing convertible would take more space when it's time to switch from infant seat, but I guess one step at a time.

Just an update, I installed seat on passenger side in back. When in laws visited, for short trips I moved the seat to middle, it was uncomfortable for rear passengers but did the job. I am going to see how it works with rear facing car seat at end of the year or it might be time to say good bye to Stinger.

That’d be unfortunate. But if you have no other option for the family then it’s understandable

Yes, the car is almost paid for now, and has been incredible fun daily. I parted with my Stinger when lease ended in Dec 2021, this is my wife's stinger which we kept, combined we have more than 60k miles on two. The journey so far had been pretty great, I was at Stinger pre launch event, jointed this forum in 2017.
