First 5000 mile service and beyond.

I have a 2021 Stinger GT line and wanting to know if it is necessary to take vehicle to dealership for first 5000 mile service or just get a local oil change. Also at what mileage is it necessary to take it to a dealership for service?

Just keep your paperwork. You can get an oil change anywhere. The service schedule is in your manual. If you don't go in for the service items when Kia says, you risk your warranty. Oil changes are every 6K miles, or 3K miles in "severe" driving conditions, like here in Utah where they salt the roads heavily in winter. I go in every 4K; seems like a reasonable compromise, since the rest of the year we're fine.

I'm considering (strongly) taking mine to a local Genesis shop for routine maintenance like oil changes, rotations, transmission drain/fill, etc. I've already confirmed the Genesis shop will do anything but warranty work. Will cost perhaps a bit more but being "in the family" I figured it would give them less ammunition in the case of a drivetrain warranty repair if a sister moniker was doing the services.

There is a Kia service dept at one of the local dealerships that doesn't have a lot of bad reviews, but I'm still weary.

Take it to the dealership. They can void your warranty if they think you did not follow the scheduled maintenance plan. Why chance it? Same cost if not cheaper than going to Valvoline or Jiffy Lube.

Dealerships have more credibility than drive up oil change centers.

Yeah I take mine to my dealer which has been clean, courteous and done the job at a very low cost.

OR, if you have the expertise, or will to learn, tools, and space, do it yourself and keep digital logs and receipts.

I took my Stinger to a trusted independent mechanic that I know through a friend. He lifted my car up and did the oil change in my presence. He documented everything and signed the paperwork. I prefer to watch my car get serviced and going to a guy that allows you to stand next to him while he works on the car shows transparency. I am sure Kia can try to twist and argue that the oil change was not done properly or something was missing... but they have to prove it... I also plan to keep my car at least a decade so I want it to be taken care of very carefully.
