I’ve been in love with Stingers from the moment I saw them. They look like no other cars on the road. I’ve been driving a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport for 6 years but have driven it a bit too hard (two new turbos, new transmission). I’m going through a horrific divorce and said what the hell - time to get my dream car. And I hate driving SUVs.

I knew I wanted a Scorpion edition because of the spoiler and black wheels. Honestly they should make all GT2 versions this way but I digress. I always wanted black because in my mind, nothing is sexier than a clean black car.

I had test driven a Genesis G70 in ceramic silver with black wheels and loves the contrast. I decided this is what I wanted so I began my search.

Two months of calling dealerships that had an AWD Scorpion edition ceramic silver. Finally found one charging MSRP (everyone else $5k-$10k over). I’m in NC and the car was in WI, so I paid $1500 to have it shipped.

I’m in love. Sure I’m getting 12 mpg right now (I have a heavy foot). But holy hell this car is sexy, sophisticated, fast as hell and my two kids (5 and 9) fit perfectly well in the back seat.

I have a black Scorpion edition still reserved if anyone wants it!

So what mods should I do first?

Congrats, welcome, and hang tough with the divorce.

Nice ride

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about the break up (my son recently went through a worst case, including defending himself successfully against "battery" charges in court, man!).

I have one performance mod: Eibach anti-sway bars. Handling is priority; the stock car has enough oomph to satisfy me.

Congrats Man! Yeah hopefully you get a resolution to your divorce soon. Funny I have 2 kids 5 and 9 and just got a divorce finalized, that was dragging on for 2 years. I wasn't able to dispose of or aquire any assets during the divorce, which sucked seeing cars come and go that I wanted. Two days after I signed the divorce degree, the local dealer got one in and I bought it.

Window Tint
Sway bars
Intake and Exhaust

Oh, and front brake pads.

Welcome!

Good for you man! I’m sure it’s been hell. You’re in good company though, and I’m sure much better off! What did you get?

Yes thank you. Hoping you can gets yours done soon. My ex ending up getting less than I offered her, before she lawyered up. So in a way all the Bs was worth it. I just got the 2022 Gt1 in ascot green. I don't think I ever saw the scorpion edition, but it looks badass with that rear spoiler.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I’m glad you found us! Sorry to hear about the divorce - but I’m happy to hear you now have your dream car. Check out the forum store and vendor section for all sorts of mods and upgrades.

Welcome to the hive! I second the sway bars, and tint recommendation and add ceramic coating to the suggestions

I’m bringing it in next week to get ceramic coating (exterior including wheels and Brembos, interior, windows) and tint. Regarding the sway bars - what is the benefit to those? Would the dealer do it or do I need to find a local mechanic?

Probably better to get a local mechanic for the sway bars, they tighten up the handling and eliminate the rear end unsettling you will get when cornering

Congratulations on the new ride.

I’ll say the rear sway is one of the best mods you can do. If you’re mechanically inclined it’s easy, if not a local mechanic can do it in an hour.

Front sway is the perfect compliment for direct steering.

If you don’t mind the occasional squeak when pressing the brakes, performance pads up front give a lot more confidence on hard braking (not that you’ll always need it with these brakes).

My experience: Had the dealer put in the rear Eibach, and drove on that for a year and a half, perfectly satisfied with the reduced rear end "hop" and "side step" when vigorously cornering; then I started to wonder how the increased tendency to oversteer would handle the stiffer front bar: got it put in and holy cow!, the difference was even more dramatic than the buttoned down feel with the rear bar: steering feedback became thoroughly consistent at all speeds, right up to (and including) the tires "hissing" as they near the adhesion point, and body roll (which is not a lot to begin with) was reduced further with the front bar added. The dealer put in the front bar too.

You lucky SOB. Not only did you upgrade your ride, now you can get a nicer younger trophy wife.

You deserve it, congrats!

Appreciate all the valuable information. I just ordered a set of Eibach front and rear sway bars. I've noticed the sideways "bunny hop" in sport mode too, the first time on an on-ramp when I was pushing it and it surprised me, really unnerving. I've been leaving the car in "comfort" or "eco" mode ever since except on straight aways and I feel like I'm missing out on more fun. I figured I might as well pull the trigger since I'm having my summer wheels and tires installed and getting an alignment next week.

"Bunny hop", sidestep, either one works, or both at the same time. :P If the road is a bit up and downy, you'll feel the hop, and if you push Gs you'll get the sidestep or "stepping out" feel. But your description seems to be in a straight line? There was zero "sideways" movement/feel with OEM sway bars in Sport mode accelerating hard: so, I'm unsure of what you are describing here. It could be the road surface interfacing with acceleration on winter or A/S tires. Wait until you have your summer setup on, as you say: then you'll know for sure if something else it going on.

"Bunny hop" was my colorful term for the back end "stepping out" on corners, especially on freeway ramps that are bumpy. The unnerving feeling of the inside rear tire losing contact and getting "squirrely" ;)

BIG Congrats on the purchase, that's a nice looking car which one day I'd like to own. If you don't mind, how much per mile was the shipping?
