So I have officially made it. Just bought a 2020 GT1. Ceramic Silver with red interior. Was a dealer car with 3,000 miles on it.

Got it with a limited lifetime powertrain warranty, and lifetime paint and fabric warranty. Paid $40,250 out the door taxes and fees included, seemed like a good deal from everywhere I looked forever.

Looking for some mods now, wanting to do a Roof spoiler and trunk spoiler.

Congrats! Before you do anything else I'd get paint protection and an oil catch can. Have fun!

I have paint protection through the dealer. Do you recommend Kia's as well? They put a ceramic coat on the paint as part of the warranty

Congrats on the new ride! I have the same color combo and get compliments on it almost weekly, you'll love it.

Dodger Blue is referring to PPF (paint protection film, also called "clear bra"). These cars are rock chip magnets and PPF will stop the majority of them. I have everything FWD of the doors covered.
Ceramic coating is cosmetic, but does nothing for rock chips. Unfortunately PPF can't be installed OVER ceramic coating (although the reverse is OK).

You'll find lots of mod info on here, both performance and cosmetic, just depends on where your priotities (and budget) take you.

Awesome yeah PPF and Ceramic coating is a must if you wanna keep the car looking amazing.

Okay, so... total newb here (as you have seen from my previous questions lol) - BUT! Does ceramic coating lasts through automatic touchless car washes? Im debating if I should get it or not, but with how much salt there is where I live, I will have to go a car wash like 1-2 times a week for 4-5 months of the year and like 1 once every 1-2 weeks for the other 4 months (and less for the last 4)

Yes a good coating will last months if not years of pressure car wash. Again PPF and Ceramic coating your car wit a good Gyeon or Carpro coating is a must if you wanna keep the car looking amazing.

Okay, so this scares me a bit. The ceramic coating I was quoted was $1500. When you say "Will last months" - That is kinda scary for a $1500 bill.

+ Sorry by "Touchless Car Was" I mean its Automatic, but no brushes touch the car. NOT a human car wash.

Welcome to the forum and congrats.

This seems expensive. You can buy products you can apply yourself. Far cheaper.

Is that what you are going to do? I read some nightmare stories about ceramic coating and people doing it themselves.

I have used a ceramic coating from Meguires but generally just keep it clean and waxed. I think you would be wasting your money spending that $1500 but each to their own. As mentioned before, PPF stops stone chips but is likewise expensive.
EDIT - Actually it was Mothers CMX Ceramic Spray coating that I used. About $50. They state that their test cars have been through 100+ automatic brush type car washes with little or no degradation of the ceramic coating.

Thank you so much!

Just googled this: hXXps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV5QBhmHRD8 and he has the "sand" appearing on the car and comments say that even with proper buffing the sand shows and its even worse on black cars. I got a black car. This is a great start, will do more research!

Ok you can watch a video and read a little then buy Car Pro Cquarts UK 3.0 and apply the coating yourself about 70USD you can do it yourself. Trust me its easy and results are spectacular.

Howdy, and welcome.

After three months I got the entire front end done in 3M PPF. I've never done anything else to the rest of the car and it still looks amazing. The open secret to maintaining paint is to keep it clean, clean, clean. I wash my car every time it gets rained on; usually before going off to bed to sleep the contented peace of the clean car owner. Hah. "Air grime" builds up in a week and then some: so, I tend to wash my car every week. By hand. I tried "tunnels", but my rims kept getting rashed. Never again. Next winter, I've got a place ready to get my car in the air and spray out the undercarriage, which I will have done as needed, probably three times per season (at $75 a pop, the only downside). I hand wash even in winter, when it's above freezing. That said, I am still considering ceramic coating as a way to make keeping my car clean even easier with the Optimum No Rinse method I use.

I also use ONR to wash my car each time. Definitely do the ceramic coat. You're already used to working with your paint up close and getting it very clean. After that, it's just a matter of polishing out any imperfections you find, then applying the coating. YouTube videos can easily get you through it.

With ceramic coating, dirt doesn't stick as easily to the paint, so it looks better between washes. The grime wipes away easier as well. Well worth it for anyone who hand washes regularly.

I wash my car so often that ceramic is probably redundant! :D I can't stand the first indicator of grime.
