As above does anyone have any experience with the fault code P226E?

The EML came on when I started the car this morning, I've checked online but results are not plentiful and too generic to be of any use.

3.3L GT - No mods other than K&N panel filters. I've removed the K&N's for now and reset the EML, took it for a drive and the light hasn't come on again get so will if it stays off I'll stick the filters back in and see if it comes back. Hoping it's as simple as the car not liking the K&N's but I was under the impression they really made little to no difference anyway.

The only other thing I can think of is the battery charge was slightly lower due to the dashcam draining it more than usual. I know low voltage can throw up all sorts of odd seemingly unrelated gremlins so will also charge the battery to full and see how it goes.

Same thing happened to my car yesterday when I turned on. Called this morning my dealer and will bring in the Car on Monday for a check. My Cooler Fluid was a bit low and topped it up, but didnt help.

Checked couple of minutes ago wirh my OBD2 and got the same error code with a malfunction on the particle filter/exhaust system.

Better call your local garage to check it. My Mechanic told me I can drive the car to the garage, as long the EML doesnt flash and stays solid. Flashing means a dangerous fault for the motor.

Which region do you life and what Model you got?
What Software are you running?

I live in Switzerland (Europe) and have a Model MY21 with the latest software running. Maybe the newest OS is the culprit?

I'm in the UK and running the same MY21.

Do you do predominantly short journeys in your car? The particulate filter is a bit like the dpf on a diesel and can get clogged if not given a good long blast every now and again.

Running it above 50mph for 30 mins or more is recommended to clean out any soot left on the filter, might be worth a try.

Under the week sometimes I drive not that much, but let the engine heat up and drive around 5-8 KM with atleast 50 KM/h. That is also statet in the manual. On Weekends I drive longer and higher with some pulls to get all excess out.

Around once 2-3 Months I get the particle filter symbol light up but I goes away after driving longer and let the engine rev full on couple of pulls after it heats to optimal operating temps. I narrowed that down to the OPF, which is not very good for Petrol Engines and mostly causes more problems than do good.

I just think its a strange concidence that we booth get the same Problem at almost the same time with the same Model

Maybe could be something that will cause soon a recall for the MY21. Well my dealer will check it out this weeka and I got still warranty. 2.5 Years Ownership and around 38'000 KM mileage is not alot. Else the Car runs without problems.

in addition to religiously adhering to maintenance, I recommend always taking the 'long way' around to where your short hop is, so that the engine reaches full operating temperature. the drive is always fun and the battery will also love you. so you burn more gasoline, but that's not a bad thing. so you rack up more miles, but your having fun 'getting all the excess out.'

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Got my car back yesterday from the dealer. Fault was at the particle filter, it got so full that it couldnt start the regeneration on its own. Somehow the automatic regeneration process wasnt started in due time and the garage needed to do that over the OBD2 Kia Console. Usually the Check Light for the Particle Filter would go on before this would happen so you can drive longer trips with some pulls, but this time it never did. Could be a bug or some unfortunate constellation with some short trips in a row.

Its covered under the warranty if you dont have the exhaust modded.

But this fault is caused by the OPF. Worst bullshit EU decided to do to Petrol Cars. Causes just harm to the car and decreses perfomance.

I suggest everbody in Europe to check if OPF is mandatory in their home country and if not, as soon the warranty runs out to do a OPF delete and tune for that. Im in Switzerland so OPF is not mandatory

This is interesting, the fault hasn't come back for myself so perhaps mine sorted itself after I took it for a long drive.
Glad you got it sorted anyway and one to watch for in the future.
