So I paid a collision spot that the Kia dealership recommended to put an E badge on the hood, f&*%ed it up. I don't want to call them out for various reasons, but they then tried to cover up the f*ck up and I noticed it. They drilled holes laterally into the fender so they could offset the badge 1/16th of an inch to cover the missing paint and still left a deep gouge in the paint not covered by the badge. I could tell it was not centered and given the deep scratch I figured f*ck them and I would just eat the cost and go elsewhere to have it replaced. When the second shop removed the badge that is when it all was clear, it wasn't a mistake.
I was a dick in an email and sent him an invoice from a shop known for high end work, he agreed to pay it. I have since decided I will not go that route, if I have it repainted I will find out what he would charge someone and ask him to pay that portion of the work. He f&*%ed up, I noticed and he did own up to it and wants to make it right.
So my question is, how will aftermarket paint wear over time? I have never had a car I cared about, and have seen some pretty poor paint jobs on 2018 stingers that had to be repainted and just two + years later they look horrid. I'm wondering if I should just live with the minor paint issue or have it repainted. I read all this stuff about factory paint vs. aftermarket and many say don't do aftermarket unless you must.
Looking for people with experiences of aftermarket paint jobs, high end work.
