Extra TPMS Sensors for Winter Wheels

Not if the TPMS malfunction light has come on.
I think the TPMS might need 'activation' ...so now I believe I should get an OBD reader and delete the error before trying anything else?

It does not need any activation.

The system self learns.

Your issue is likely that 1 or more of your TPMS sensors in your wheels in not operating. You need to determine which one(s).

A tire shop can likely help

Do I need to „delete the error” by ODB device?
Or it will repair itself once the faulty sensor(S) get replaced ?

It should self clear. Were the sensors in the wheels brand new?

Yeah I had an extra set of OEM TPM sensors on my Rays Wheels. Just drive around for a few miles and the car will automatically pick them up. No programming needed. You can constantly switch them out no problem

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
For anybody still wondering. I swapped my 18 wheels with OEM 19s with their own TPMS sensors. The car self-recognized the new wheels' sensors after some driving. Not sure if this will be the case with non-OEM, but i can attest it did work for me without issues.

Is there any way to get the car to go into TPMS learning mode? I have the external tool for that, but when I had my TPMS installed for my other wheelset the car doesn't read the sensors. The warning that used to pop up when they were not installed is gone, so it knows something is there...but it's also not picking them up. On my other car I have to go into learning mode and reprogram the sensors to the car whenever I put on my summer/winters. I expect that's the issue, but it seems odd for it to be picking up the sensors and not registering a malfunction. Kind of like a TPMS "delete", even though they are there.

So you have no tpms error, but also no tpms data being read?

Picture?

Exactly. I'll try to get a pic, but if I remember it's either just blank or a dash for pressures on that page, hundreds of miles in.

Well, it looks to be working now...just took a LOT longer than I would have expected. It wasn't 1 or 2 drives.

Could be 1 or more of the TPMS sensors have weak battery. I don't run my '19 OEM wheels much any more, and last year I swapped them back on and it took a long while to register in the dash display. Now, they don't even register any more. It took the car some 20-mins of driving before it gave up and threw a TPMS error message on the instrument cluster.

I have the r/front tpms is blinking and won't stop.have driven 2 days and it won't stop.can it be reprogramed without dealer?

you have a blinking indicator? that's an upgrade from pre refresh probly. my18 simply flatlines all four tires when one of the sensors stops sending. and you have to test each wheel to find the bad sensor it doesn't show on the dash.

your bad sensor is kaput. the batteries are integral the whole sensor is tossed when the battery goes dead. this is supposed to last around five years. but I've had at least three die well before that time. one of my replacements died just over a year later.

thanks for replys.i'm taking it in monday and get a new sensor.like you said thier trash if they quit.thanks again

They really "should" be replaced in sets of 4, otherwise you will be back to change the next one shortly.

I believe ~5yrs is the expected lifespan, but it is NOT guarantied.

Just got my new set of OEM 19'' wheels and sensors. Dealership suggested that I need to visit them to set them up, but I'll mount them myself if you say TMPS sensors auto-adjust themselves.

If they are OEM TPMS sensors, they just work. The car will auto detect the new sensors within a few miles.

Yeah, just like you said - nothing else was needed. Just mounted the wheels/tyres and the pressure was displayed soon after driving off. Love that! The TMPS on my previous car was a pain in the a$$, so I ended up deactivating it. It's so satisfying that most of the issues I had with the old one are fixed in the new one.

What was your previous car that the TPMS was a pain in the keister?
