Just a question for everyone. I recently bought a Kia stinger 2022 GT1 and the car is completely stock. When i drive aggressive meaning that I press down on the gas pedal in sport mode I notice a gas smell inside the car. This only happens when I drive aggressive. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Is this normal? I checked and it does not seem like there is an exhaust leak.

Not normal. Keep asking until you find the source of the "leak". I've read of some tool that senses exhaust content on a gauge, and you go around with the engine running and look at the gauge. It's been a long time since I read that. Is it really a thing?

years ago when i had a honda accord sport and i hit the gas all the time it smelled like rotten eggs.

That is the exact smell in my car but it’s only when I drive aggressive and step in the gas.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
i use 91 octane, and i hardly ever hit the gas pedal to the floor, no egg smell.

The weird part if I am driving around normal then no smell. But I cantvdetermine if it’s a exhaust leak or just the smell escapes around the cabin but not leaking exhaust fumes I am not sure if the even makes sense lol.

i bet the smell escapes. i just put a pizza in my "trunk" because i didnt want it smelling up the cabin LOL
and i could still smell it in the cabin. total escapage! note: i am not an expert, and dont know what im talking about most of the time, these nice guys just let me play on the forum.

Try it with the recirculating button on so that ur not pulling air from outside the cabin. Also if you don't give the car an Italian tune up very often that rotten egg smell is worse. I gag mine often...mainly because of the thrill of being pushed back into the seat.

Well I think that so much exhaust back pressure is created when you step with the catalytic converter being right after the turbo that is what creates the smell per say but is not actually a leak you can fix if that makes sense. I had Toyota Supra and it was straight pipe aftermarket turbo and and did have and only had a slight smell when I aggressively drove it. Before the straight piping and removing all the cats the smell was very strong. That was my experience that is why I asked if others experienced the same. If there is an exhaust leak under the car I would not smell it. Only a leak on the primary pipes after the turbo would be a leak I would smell, but I’d that was the case I would smell if constantly.

Get behind a soccer moms van when they are accelerating like they dont accelerate very often...little black puff of smoke and rotten egg smell. I get behind my son in his 2021 V8 F150, he gags it frequently, and no puff of black smoke and no smell. All I know is that I drive my Stinger like I stole it always in sport mode and I dont get the stinkies. Not scientific but an observation. :)

Well I need to take my car to the dealer then to get it checked out. Must be a exhaust leak then.

Since you’ve recently purchased, how many miles on the car?

I know my car had some funky smells when it was new and overtime they went away.

If the smell is like rotten eggs, that is normal as I have experienced the same in multiple cars from different makers (Subaru, Mazda and Infiniti)...

No, it is not normal.

None of my cars do it.

^^Car may still be generating that smell, but it's not getting sucked back into the car. That's the concern I think.

Load up a bunch of raw fuel in the cats and it will smell.
