I am guessing I am not the only one who finds this to be so, but whenever the car goes in for anything, it comes back with all of the driver's settings messed up. We have a GT2 with all of the goodies and it is dangerous when we get our car back from an oil change and the parking distance sensors are not operating, the lane change warning are no longer displayed in the heads up display, etc. What gives?

What year? And which country are you in?

2019 and SoCal in the USA.
Sounds like the specific oil change kid was playing with your settings.

What was it in for on this occurence?

Any problems that result from a dealer visit are self inflicted!! You should know better. It’s not like stealership visits are held top secret around here. There are plenty of warnings around here that even a 225 post newbie should’ve picked up on. Sorry no sympathy here.

Incompetent fools. I bet they were blasting your speaker while they were “working” in your car. Joyride also and get fastfood for their lunch.

I have had the same results when we got tires replaced.
Does your dealer have some outstanding tire prices? Would be a rarity.

Usually the same tires can be acquired cheaper just about anywhere else.

Did you hit your seat memory setting number again after you got it back? That can throw you if you never touch it and then someone bumps the number 2 setting. Just a thought

Good call. I've noticed this when I get back in my car after a service: sometimes the tech moves the seat, and after starting I will push "1" and return to my settings. If you don't do that, then starting the car moves to the last seating position someone moved to.

This thread is about other drivers aid settings being tinkered with. not the seat and mirror positions

From OP
  • parking distance sensors are not operating
  • the lane change warning are no longer displayed in the heads up display,
  • etc.

Thanks but these were not with dealers!

Do you have "Valet mode" on yours?

It was added to the Canadian model on the last, (or perhaps 2 updates ago).
It prevents all access to the infotainment screen. (not sure how much, if any, it blocks from the screen in front on the driver).

I don't know what all the presets change for you, but it's certainly more settings than just mirror and seat position. I would assume that setting what's in the heads up display would be tied to presets. Maybe not

None of those driver preference settings are being questioned in this thread though.

It's not a matter of selecting driver memory #1 for the settings that the tech is playing with while joyriding/test driving the OP's car.

I was guessing that the settings were being wiped out when a mechanic resets the system following a service. Since most of you on the forum do not seem to be experiencing the same problem, I guess it must be something else. We are able to reset up the way we had it, but being old farts, it takes time to recall how we got to where we were. What really pisses me off, is that many of these settings are for safety features that you expect to be working when you leave the mechanic. If we did not have them in the first place, we would not be as reliant on them. It is difficult for my wife when she drives our 2016 SL400 because it does not have heads up display and the warning systems are a bit different from the Stinger. Since I drive both cars more often, it is less difficult for me. But between the two cars, the Stinger does have more safety/warning systems and we both appreciate how well they work when activated.

after having oil change done by dealer, my little pc cover that located right before oil filter is gone.i found that out after a month later and now i have purchase it from part deparment. what a shamme.

I do my oil changes so nothing gets lost. I’d rather bring my car at any independent shops rather than the dealership.
