Well it all started with a single light on the dash that indicated a problem with the Auto Panning lights. Not a big problem. Dealership Identified that it was caused by the STINGER CK MOISTURE ABSORBENT PAD
We need to order one. Fine I said...
Not long after the light came on and the part was ordered, A bogan in a Holden Commodore came close to sharing bumpers. The Proximity sensor notified me of the near miss and the car then lost power and the dash responded with the above.
She was towed to the dealership.
The dealer was able to clear the codes and she once again drove fine with the headlight panning light on. However soon after this whilst parking, the front sensor told me I was getting close to a wall and Again the error occurred. The dealership noted that a fuse had blown (As it did last time) and the codes were back.
As we were waiting for parts the dealership decided that the stinger should have a sleep over until the parts arrived. They gave me a loan car (Very Happy).
The parts arrived after a 3 month wait.. Yeeeaaaaaaaaaaaa, however they put them in and wolla. they tell me she now needs the other side done.
Now the parts required are very cheap.. It is a 1" square moisture pad. however it seems that there is a supply problem as Now KIA cant tell me how long it will take to get the part but estimate it could be another 3 months. They have said that they have 50 on back order and only 60 of those are spoken for... Yup thats not a typo.
I have found that I can order them directly from South Africa, they have plenty in stock and they are willing to ship them by air and have them in 7 days. But no, only Parts intended for the Australian market can be used.
Moisture must work different in South Africa!!!
I did find a Spare parts Distributer that is located in Australia and will send them to me within 2 weeks for approx. double the cost from Kia. But hey... I want my car back so I paid and now await.
FYI it seems that my experience is not alone. If the car has a sensor fault (Any fault) and you are traveling slower than approx. 35kmh and the proximity alert is triggered, your dash magically turns into a Christmas tree.. Any time of year.. This must be a feature..
