Hello everyone! First post here, and i had a problem after adjusting the headlights because of removing the hood release cable from the chassis of the car to get better access. I forgot to put it back and the hood did not open from the latch.

I wanted to figure out a way to open the hood manually, and i did it.

First, what tools would you need:
  • For the removal of the bottom cover
    • 10mm wrench or impact gun
    • A screwdriver
  • for opening of the hood from the bottom of the car
    • around 30cm (12 in) extension, pipe or similar object
    • a small hook with some string tied to it
    • pliers which can work in tight places
    • a light that can be propped up

First off you need to remove the bottom cover using the 10mm wrench and flat head screwdriver to remove the clips. this exposes the intercooler and radiators. Thereafter you can shine a light from in front of the intercooler and see the latch from the bottom. It will look something like this.

From here you have to flex the plastic bar a little bit towards the radiator to see the cable which usually opens the hood latch. The cable will be on the left side, as the images here are flipped. on the other side is the sensor cable, please please that alone. It will look like this:

What you have to do is pop this cable out of its socket, using the extension bar of your choice. This will allow the braided cable inside of the plastic housing to move. You then need to move the housing to the left and attach the hook onto it. I attached the hook using the same extension by taping the hook to it.

Once the hook is in place, just tug on the sting and the hood should pop. Below you can find a picture from the top after i unlocked the hood using this method. You can see the hook attached, how the housing is placed and other components.

After successfully unlocking the hood, make sure to place the cable housing back in the bracket! This can be done using skinny pliers from the top of the engine bay.

Hopefully i saved someone a trip to the dealer with this method. Also i recognize that this is not the correct thread but I'm unable to post in the DIY one for some reason.
