I’ve removed dozen of emblems on cars, fine fishing line or a few strands of floss, a seat in the shade and lots of time so I’m not rushing.

Never had a problem until the Stinger hood. Mainly floss and a small plastic tool. Started from left side to right, everything came off easily after about fifteen minutes and a slight pull and floss motion to get the adhesive off.

Was about to get the car ceramic coated etc so I wanted to get the emblems taken care of first.

Behold the abuse my slow and easy method took. Hello paint shop to resolve. You can see the “flakiness” of the paint. Could flick a little with a fingernail and lift more too so I’m just leaving it for now.

Bugger

Any ideas or paint shop only? My detailer guy said he could give it a go first and if I don’t like, paint shop it.

So I ran into the same issues, 4-5 bubbles and chips. Rear came off no issues. I did the front same technique and paint came off. It was a hot day so I didnt have to use any heat gun or hair dryer. I hit it with a paint pen and slapped the new emblem on top. I stuck with an oval emblem because I was afraid just that would happen. There was also a bubble or two. The paint is shit on the front end. Bad pic post touch up.

Was yours like mine? Worse? It was a hot day for me too but I was in shade. Took my damn time too based on the paint issues I’ve heard about.

I have the circle emblem but would do oval to cover. Obviously don’t want it to be a weak point for rust under emblem etc.

Sucks

updated above post with post touch up pic.
I filled emblem holes with silicone. Dont think you have to worry about rust because its plastic or so it appeared.

It's plastic. So, no rust. If it doesn't show, only you will know.

Ok, so I’ll let the detailer patch and use touch up paint.
I've read so many botched badge/emblem stories already that if I ever want to rebadge I am absolutely going to go through the dealer or a recommended pro. That way I will never know if they "discovered" faulty paint on the bumper (licence plate panel). And they will guarantee their own work.

Heres a snicker bar...oh wait here's two of em....feel better....the boo boo will get fixed ...... Wash

Why buy a Kia if you're ashamed to drive around with a Kia badge.

Bought the new emblems, they are still in the box, too risky to put on.

Wait till summer really kicks in & do it on a stinker of a day, that’s what I did, used nature’s heat gun & fishing line.
