A few months ago I had the Electronic Suspension warning light appear on the dash. Due to the pandemic the car was brought in after the warranty period but Kia replaced the G-sensor as a good will gesture.
A couple of weeks ago the Electronic suspension warning light came on again. This time when I took it to the service department at the dealer….I was advised that the left front strut was gone and the right assembly was leaking and advised that I should replace both front strut assemblies at a cost of $3600 Canadian.
It made sense as the car seemed extremely bumpy.
However as I have not given the service department the go ahead for the repair I have continued to drive the vehicles and something strange happened that made me question everything. I travel 200km per day….so I know the ride of my car. The Suspension warning comes on after a few seconds after starting the engine. I have had a very bumpy ride over the last few weeks however yesterday the electronic suspension warning did NOT illuminate and even more surprising was the fact that the car suspension felt normal again.
My question is am I being hosed by the service department requesting a $3600 repair to replace both front strut assemblies? How can the car return to a normal ride when the warning light disappeared…..if the struts are gone?
Please help because I would like to challenge the Service Dept. at the dealership.
Thanks for any help from Stinger owners.

I would take it to an independent suspension specialist and get them to give you a diagnosis. You can take that back to Kia if you wish.

Was this ever fixed? What was the final issue?

I've read through this thread and have a couple of questions. I had the exhaust replaced with a Stillen cat back. After it came off the lift everything was great. I started to head home but had to make a stop and pick up dinner. I did curbside pick up so the car was never shut off. After backing out of the parking spot, driving about 50 feet, and then turning out of the parking lot the electronic suspension warning came on.
My son-in-law is a mechanic for Hyuandai and he did a code read and found that it's the rear sensor throwing the error. He is going to do some checking, but we both thought it was weird that it was fine before it went on the lift and for about 20 minutes of driving after it came off the lift. Has anyone else seen this happen?

If they lifted it by the pinch welds or by the tries, shouldn't have caused a problem. Is it possible that when putting the exhaust on they damaged a wire or connection to the strut? Take it back to the shop and have them check around to see if they damaged anything.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Wonder which rear sensor?
Hopefully not the ECS -ECU - it is costly.
