I noticed last Saturday that I smelt a burning electric or plastic smell coming from the right side of my engine bay. It looks like its under the exhaust manifold near the 02 sensor but I really cant tell. The car runs and drives fine and no codes are being thrown. Based on my limited knowledge, I cant think of any electrical components in that area but there is a ton of plastic on the bottom though. I cant smell it until the car fully heats up so it seems like something is touching the exhaust.

Anybody have any clue or have experience with this? I take it in tomorrow and not driving it right now just in case.

Which side is the "right" side? Of the vehicle, or when facing the engineroom with the hood open? i.e., driver's side?

Sorry, the drivers side. Its for sure coming from under the exhaust manifold close to the first 02 sensor and high pressure fuel pump.

Without the car in the air it will be impossible to get a good close look everywhere. But before that day, you can use a flashlight and do a meticulous inspection of what you can see. That's what I would do while waiting for the appointment.

I tried to see but I couldn't really see under the exhaust manifold very well and was scared of starting a fire. Ill def update this when I find out though.

Its the drivers side oil feed for the Turbo. I guess synthetic oil smells like electrical to me. I appreciate your reply though.

I cant tell if you're trolling or not, but I smelled it because it was burning. Whole point in me making this post.
Your previous post sounded dismissive, like the problem wasn't a problem after all. That is why I asked. Now you're saying it "was" a burning smell. Have you solved the mystery?

Ahh that makes sense. Yes, we found that the drivers side turbo feed line was leaking onto my exhaust.

Turbos cook

Maybe you drove it hard that day.

What does "the drivers side turbo feed line was leaking onto my exhaust" mean?

Was that air? Wouldn't make a difference

Was it fuel? Your car would be "on fire"

I had a similar issue on my passenger side turbo. My problem turned out to be a small leak from my meth injection hitting the turbo and cooking. Check around your turbos. Chemicals stink when they cook.
