Electric Stinger in 2026

Australia does not subsidise car purchases. But they do public transport. The largest tram network in the world is Melbourne and we have 24 hour trains and trams on weekends. It costs $10 to travel anywhere in the state for a day....

Sorta makes up for it.

That one of the thing I loved about visiting Europe; decent public transport meant you could go just about anywhere for a decent price in a reasonable amount of time in buses, trains, trams, etc. that were reasonably safe. Out here where I'm at you can get in and out of the city proper on public transit (even though it's sketchy as hell) reasonably enough, but not one suburb to another without a ton of transfers and a ton of time. And no one is willing to invest in, or use public transit.

Ok, THIS is the new Stinger EV. The EV4, coming later this month.

The shape looks pretty singery but I'm a little concerned about the lights.

Gotta agree with that. I cannot stand most of the newer designs coming out of either Kia or Hyundai, especially the EVs. Gone are the days of elegant timeless designs - like the Stinger - with the brilliant "Tiger Nose" signature motif that unified the entire Kia product line. Sadly, Peter Schreyer's design language and legacy has since been systemically erased from Kia's product line, replaced by incoherent geometric lines and non-sequitur shapes tossed together to look more like alien spaceships than dignified automobiles.

Only Genesis has done well with its two-line theme and superman grills.

Yeah reminds me of the Toyota from 2012 to present, although would say current Toyota design language seems far more elegant and coherent than Hyundai/Kia.. Strange alien designs.

Traditionally, I've never been too fond of Toyota's mainstream designs, but I have to agree some of the latest design trends have been better than the current Hyundai/Kia wacky-for-wackiness-sake mess. Back in 2017, Akio Toyoda famously declared "no more boring cars", and I believe he meant what he said. But as things go in the automotive world, there are no constants. Apparently Toyoda has been pushed out of his role and so how much of his influence still holds sway remains to be seen.

The same goes for Hyundai/Kia. Who know how things might turn out a few yrs from now. Maybe they'll realize the errors of their ways and correct them before they crater their brand image.

I just saw this as well. Does remind me of a baby Stinger! A blend of the stinger and forte should be good, no?

Need to see more, I'd be nice to be able to get another Stinger but I certainly don't want an EV. My electric bill is way more than any gas bill I have in a given month. Unless gas skyrockets to insane prices, gas is still much cheaper for me.

I don't think this is an EV based on the model naming. All K models are ICE afaik.

Man, I had no idea Kia was running such incentives on the EV6 right now. I'm seeing new EV6 GTs for the low to mid 50Ks and it's really tempting.

If our current infrastructure was more supportive of electric cars on road trips, then I would be all over that thing for 50K. Love me a fast/super wagon and I actually like the styling a lot more in person (versus the pictures). It's giving Audi RS6 performance numbers for over half the price.

K4 = compact sedan replacing Forte.
K3 = sub-compact sedan replacing Rio.

About the only connection this new K4's silhouette has to the Stinger is the sloping roof to the rear, but it's not clear it's even a liftback/hatchback. Judging by the short hood line and the short "prestige distance" (between front wheel arch and front door), this is FWD. Most likely with an ICE, and a hybrid option, with a wheelbase around 106" (same as Forte). Nice to see Kia not abandoning small affordable cars, but a Stinger replacement this is not.

The New Kia K4 Has A Strange Rear Pillar

Kia has released teaser images of the new K4, a compact sedan intended to replace the Forte. It will premiere later this month at the New York Auto Show.

I thought I read that this new model will be bigger than the outgoing forte and that it may be a hatch. The hatch is a guess based on the pics I believe tho.

Yeah, there are a few renderings online on the K4, but they are all guess based on the teaser shots. We'll have to wait till 21st to know for sure.

Again, the only tie-in to the Stinger is the roof line. I don't see much resemblance otherwise.

Ima easy to please where wheels are considered. But I don't like those wheels. They are even more "edgy" than the angular contours of the bodywork. That lower front grille looks like a danged box, no effort to blend it at all. I would not enjoy washing this car, especially those wheels.

Due in 2026, an electric rebirth of the Stinger could translate the edgy flagship performance hatchback into a long-range EV.

the only reason i’d even be interested is if it was a Hybrid like the new Mercedes E-line with a electric motor alongside the 6 cyl. engine. please oh please give it an exhaust with a special sports line… don’t be a PURE EV. come on kia we love the stinger do it right
