Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered somewhere but I couldn't seem to find my specific question! I've currently got a JB4 with the WMI kit which I've really enjoyed but am looking for a little more power! I was wondering if there was any real point in getting the EK1 and using the BEF from Terry when I'm restricted to only 91 Octane (thanks Newfoundland)?

Yes, your starting octane doesn't really matter as you change that to the appropriate ethanol mix by mixing it with E85. Or are you saying you also don't have access to E85 there?

Hey! I just meant that there's only 91 on the island, we have no access to E85 anywhere

I was having the same thoughts on the BEF. Most weeks I only have access to 93 thats maybe 10% ethanol. Not sure I’ll gain anything with BEF, or CPI. I’m considering both.

Yeah, definitely trying to make sure there's even any point myself, especially when all I have is 91 (and WMI of course)

Yeah I just don’t like the idea of the WMI inside the car. CPI sounds good and about once or twice a month I can get E85. Even running on Map3 with a good mix the car is damn scary (in a good way). I wish I could see some solid numbers on the BEF etc. I’m all for spending the money if I know the gains will be there.

Fair enough! Yeah I'd like to see some rough numbers myself or have a rough idea before biting the bullet as well, definitely don't wanna throw down that kind of money if I'm going to see minimal gain from what I have now!

There will be absolutely zero gain with BEF alone with pump 93. JB4 alone is more than enough to kill your engine on pump 93. With BEF your engine will just die faster than you can ever imagine. CPI/WMI or using 99aki+ race fuel religiously is needed if you're pushing timing.

What do you mean it will kill your engine faster? Also are you saying that CPI/WMI will negate this "killing of the engine"?

I mean add extra timing on pump gas especially his Newfoundland 91. 95% of the cars out there can't even handle map3 on 93 in. On the contrary, dialing timing back to run more boost is what pump gas canned tune philosophy. So you see the problem here of adding more timing on a knock limited fuel.

WMI is absolutely engine savior for his situation if he's going to chase for power. Canadian 94 is generally as crappy as Arizona, California, Nevada 91, and that new formula Shell 93 is only as good as Texas/Florida 91. I wouldn't even be surprised if Newfoundland 91 is crappier than Texas 89.

interesting. So shell "93" isnt as good as our florida 91?

Like 50/50. Petro Canada/Esso/Chevron 94 here can be worse than your 89 if we are having bad luck.
