We're back with another Brake Pad Giveaway, we will be giving one set of pads (front or rear) to one randomly selected forum member from our entire range, just by participating in the below thread!

In past giveaways We have discussed our first cars, garage and storage spaces, famous people we have met or would like to have met and weird and wonderful vehicles amongst other topics.

For this giveaway we would like to start a discussion for all new drivers; what top tip would you give to your younger self when learning to drive? Either as a complete beginner on the streets or for your first time hitting the track, what valuable lesson do you wish you knew that you can bless a younger generation with?

The lucky winner will be randomly selected and announced within a few days after the closing date of 1st April 2022 and details will be posted on this forum within a few days of the closing date.

Please be aware that this thread may appear in more than one section on the forum and one winner will be selected from the whole forum, not a winner per thread.
Pad choice will be based on availability and where a chosen pad is unavailable, an alternative will be offered.

If you are not the lucky winner, EBC Brakes are pleased to be able to offer a 10% discount off their braking products to all members of the forum community using code FORUM10USER
This discount code can be redeemed at EBC Brakes Direct | EBC Brake Pads | EBC Brake Discs or with our USA partners at Perfect Brakes | EBC Brake Pads | EBC Rotors

Any questions or application issues please let us know.

GOOD LUCK………

one thing I wish I could tell my younger self of three weeks ago would be this... even tho the freeway ahead of you looks empty. That doesn't mean there isn't someone hiding behind a bush with a radar gun... this could have saved me two points lol

Count me in...

Look where you want to drive and not at what you want to avoid or you'll end up hitting the very thing you're trying to avoid.

I just had my first child (kept it a surprise and it was a boy!) on 3/1. I immediately found myself driving more cautiously and defensively, the way I might have when I just started learning, but with loads more experience at the age of 40. If there is one thing I can add to this thread, it is pretty simple. Think about the people that love and rely on you the next time you make the decision to have "just one drink", or answer a text, or feel a bout of road rage coming on, or any other absolutely avoidable decision that may have repercussions that can impact those you love most for the rest of their lives.

Avoid pothole and raised manhole covers at all costs, if you have the 19" tires buy tire insurance its well worth it :p

I’m a believer of life lessons so I’ll sit this one out.

Not nearly as relevant now, but my father made me learn to drive a manual. He said "you never know when you will be out with friends, and you just might need to drive someone else's car which happens to be a manual."

But for the current state of driving, no matter how "good" of a driver you might be, the car next to you may not be a "good" driver, so pay attention to what is going on around you at all times.

i grew up in England and didnt know a single person who drove and couldnt drive manual, which made me so surprised to find out lots of young Americans and Canadians never have! Definitely worth learning because as you say, you never know what might happen.

I wish more cars still came with manuals. A stinger with a manual would be just that much better than it already is!

Driven stick in many cars over the years. Problem in today's traffic is to much stop and go.

I'd tell my younger self 3 things: 1) don't buy more car than you need; 2) once the car is sorted, spend your money on driver improvement (advanced driving school, track days, etc.); and 3) know the limits of your car before making changes.
