Hello,

First post here. I dont have a Stinger, but have a close cousin G70 with 3.3T.

I have been reading that you can run E30 fuel on the JB4 on Map 3 i think it was. Map 3 has a higher boost level that 1 or 2, i am assuming.

So I want to make sure that the E30 is only used for octane improvement. The stock ECU will control the fuel properly and the car doesn't go lean, due to the lower stochiometric value of E30.

I have read that the fuel pump is good in factory form to provide fueling up to E40. So E30 has some headroom.

So if i have a RaceChip GTS and want to run the highest setting of 7, then it should be the same as a JB4 with no fuel wires. Because no fueling adjustments are being made with the JB4 due to no fuel wires. So in effect, the JB4 is acting as a boost controller and turning up the boost ONLY.

Or to run E30 and Map3 does that assume you have fuel wires.

I am hoping that the E30 works with increased boost, like cheap race gas, and the stock fuel system and control will maintain stock fueling lambda values.

I have read what I can find, but still just a little un-clear.

Yes for JB4 because it has CANbus + fuel control. Not going to work well for RaceChip or other "dumb" tuning systems. Just find another sucker to take it off your hands and upgrade to a JB4.

If you don't hook up fuel wires, then it's just a signal modifier for MAP and Turbo pressure sensor right? Except for RPM based signal modifications. But has logging that I like and agree is useful. My question is will the stock fuel system and ECU strategy run E30 properly. With just increasing boost with no piggy back fuel control.

The JB4 fuel control wires are required for E85 use and even without fuel wires, the JB4 provides more than just RPM signal modifications with CANbus.

You might be able to get away running E30 on the factory tuning although sooner or later will trigger mixture fault codes. At higher than factory boost levels as rich as the factory tuning runs, good luck with that. :)

So your JB4 actual writes to the ECU via CANbus? Or just monitors feedback from the datastream?

You answered my question. Fuel wires are required to run E85.. I read another thread you posted on that said for a guy just to put in 5 gal E85 and 10gallons of 93 and he was good to go with basic JB4 install. I wasn't sure whether the fuel wires were included in basic JB4 install.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
CANbus is two way communications and you can do a lot more than just read a datastream.

I understand that. But is your JB4 modifying or writing via CANbus or just reading. From my understanding it is just reading not writing anything via CANbus communication. The manipulation came only from sensor voltage manipulation and not OBD port.

It's good to wonder but we're not going to explain in detail how we're running things, other than to say we're not "rewriting" any parts of the ECU, obviously. The JB4 leaves no trace behind when removed.

Understood... Thank you for your reply to my post. I think you gave me the answer about the E30 and a dumb tuning system. I like the Racechip but I am amazed at how they (Racechip) portray it as a super technical super secret device. It's nothing but a voltage reduction to achieve higher boost. More boost but less perceived load and additional timing in affect. The Japanese started that tuning philosophy 30 years ago by manipulation of MAF signals to change the perceived air flow to adjust air fuel ratio. They were dumb systems, but worked well and that was state of the art tuning system back then. I've been modding and racing for 30 years now. I'll figure out how these things work sooner or later.

Thanks Again. If I go far enough I'll end up with a JB4 or an ECU flash. Trying to stay under control with Mods on this car... I have a sickness for modding cars. LOL
