Hey all,

Wondering if anyone else has this issue. My driver's side metal left foot rest, when pressed, bends terribly. Especially pressure in the top right of the foot rest bends the whole thing. There is no backing contact for the footrest, so nothing is preventing it from bending. I wonder if the fitting broke or what, but the plastic behind the footrest definitely isn't make much contact. I'm taking it in this weekend so I justed to see if this is a defect, or just how this car is designed. Thanks!

This isn’t my experience at all! I’ve put quite a bit of weight on it and never felt even a minute movement. Hope the dealer can resolve it for you.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm dealing with an even much worse issue in the floor lining, it's bending out by the gas pedal. Which means your foot chafes against it. Causing it to be more difficult to put on the gas, or much more dangerously, my foot to take too long coming off. I will have them look at both issues.

Looks like yours is sticking out further than mine, though I only have maybe an inch of clearance. Please forgive the messy floorboards!

My photography is poor, but there is effective millimeters of clearance. Once I press it in, it pushes back in significantly. But it just pops back out.

I've pushed on my dead pedal hard countless times. I treat it like a weight bearing step and expect the same resistance. So this is a strange defect you've introduced, from my experience.

Let me amend that a bit: the OP made me aware of the dead pedal being not quite solid as a "weight bearing step". In fact, since reading this thread, I find that my dead pedal does have some give to it; but it seems deliberate, to make it more comfortable. I never noticed it before. It is very stable but has a bit of very stiff "spring" to it.

Mine does this too, I'll ask the service guys at my next appointment. Part of me thinks it might be designed that way for some sort of crash safety given the knee airbags. But I didn't notice it on any that I test drove.

Haven't specifically checked the Stinger but there is just a block of styrofoam under the dead pedal in most cars I've driven.

It's solid except at the very top. Depending on how you rest your foot you might not notice. Took me a week after getting the car to notice, had my kids in the back and my daughter dropped her stuffed animal so I had to lean way back to get my hand to the floor to pick it up and that's when I noticed.

Hey all, I took it to the dealership and they confirmed it is bendy at the top by design, not defective. I saw behind it, there's just so bracing to the top portion. Odd design, and worth a styrofoam hack perhaps, but knowing it's not broken helps.
