I'm almost certain it does and if so, the viscosity is likely checked every time you start the engine. I'm sure others will chime in with more accurate information...

As a side note, the one disappointing thing in today's day and age when majority of cars now run on synthetic is the 3.3TT V6 uses conventional oil which requires a change every 6k km in Canada. Majority of cars is typically every 12-16k km!

My dealer offers synthetic and when the 6k km comes, I will ask for synthetic and if the maintenance schedule (oil change) can be at 12k without warranty impact.
