Does exhaust upgrade only still require retuning?

To be fair I’m a motorbike guy primarily… so I’m not all that experienced with modern electrically managed cars!

In short, I want to get a cat back system for my ‘22 GT. I’m not looking to get crazy performance out out of it, and I don’t plan on doing any other real mods around. I like the balance of fuel consumption with lower as it stands, and I’d like to keep it that way. Honestly, I just want pipes for the sound.

So in short, can I get pipes without having to get a JB4 or an ECU remap?

Thanks,

Can easily do any catback without any tune required. I have arc downpipe with borla catback. Zero issues runs amazing, no tune. We have now a good variety of catback exhausts. Most go with either borla (louder) or mbrp pro (quiter). Once you add a downpipe like jun bl or ark it gets much louder especially when you are getting on it.

Since you have a 22 I would go for the active valve borla or mbrp pro so you can make it quiter and louder. Both are great and each sounds different.

Hey @renderedechoes,

To answer your question, if you install a catback on your Stinger, you do not need to tune it.

@Plakchup gave some great recommendations, the Borla S-Type EVC Exhaust and the MBRP Pro Series EVC Exhaust are two of our best-selling active exhaust systems.

Sure no problem. Try to help others best as I can. I've been learning about the stinger more lately anyway.

Been on a trial and error exhaust phase and now at final round with the borla active valve which is getting installed next friday. Another fun part is finding the right oval exhaust tips which you need to reduce drone but i think I've finally found what I needed!

I think worst idea was doing muffler delete first. I couldn't stand it even 2 days! Bleeding ears from drone! K8stinger store is great. David has been very helpful with me when I was getting the ark downpipe a few weeks ago. Great customer service.

What were your oval exhaust tips LOL - hard to find :)

Ive been looking on ebay and been trying to find 130mm ones (5 inches outlet) but also found 4.5 inches which I am receiving next week.

I currently have these 4 inch oval tips (they are too small):

I ordered the 4.5 inch one (arriving next week) but i also got these 5 inch tips:

I am going to take those 2 to muffler shop in next 2 weeks to see which one we can make fit better along with wireless valve control that I am buying as well so i can fully keep valves open whenever i want. Not needed but i like to have control and have super loud cold starts with valves open to piss off my neighbors.

Also here is a video of my current setup i took inside the car the other day. It's really loud in person but god damn does it sound AMAZING!

Also for you i have recorded my first cold start with the borla active valve. Notice how the valve is closed on cold start. Yeah that will change soon! This video also shows current tips i have which are temporary anyway. They too small.

Also another video from outside back when I had non valved borla catback when i got the ark downpipe installed:

That is an absolute sick setup my guy! I’m pretty sure that’s where I’ve landed too. Borla CatBack with Valve control and Ark downpipes

You have a BOV also? Or is that just your intakes?

Thanks. In that flyby video i did not have the hks bov. Its the k&n intakes. I installed the hks bov shortly after the ark downpipe. I'd say it's my favorite setup. I just need to setup a wireless valve control so I can keep the valves open whenever I want. Then my exhaust setup is all complete! :D:cool:
