Hey Guys,

I wanted to know do you need an oil catch can? If so what are the benefits and why we need it for our car?

If we don’t have it then how will it impact the car?

You don’t exactly “need” it. But it’s a good idea to have one. I have a cheap $30 catch can with a filter from Amazon and it catches a ton of oil.

Crank cases build up pressure. Even more so in turbo engines. That pressure has to go somewhere. The air (containing oil vapors, fuel vapors, water, etc) is routed to the intake manifold. Our cars have direct injection, so fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder, never passing the back of the intake valves, therefore never cleaning them. It will reduce the amount of caked up oil on the back of your intake valves. In the long run, it should help maintain engineer power and fuel economy.

Some people will say it does nothing, but purely based on the amount of oil mine catches, I disagree.

I'll chime in here as well. Agree with 87and66 that you don't "need" it.

If you plan to keep your vehicle for a long time, I would seriously consider adding one. That was my reasoning. (...and even if you aren't planning to keep it long term, the next fellow might appreciate it) My research left me with impression that having one won't "solve" the issue with dirty valves, turbo vanes and intake passages, but it should help keep them cleaner. They do catch oil! Some nasty looking stuff comes out of that can and it would be coating everything in it's path without the catch can. It gives me a little peace of mind too knowing that I'm trying to protect an investment as much as I can, which is worth something.

I will also add that the catch can on my driver's side does not catch much and probably not necessary.

Thanks @87and66 & @777David for sharing this. I am never going to sell this car since it’s my first ever car. So I’ll definitely get one installed asap.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The zero maintenance auto drainback BMS catch can specifically for the Stinger (and G70) sure is easy to maintain :)

It gets my vote - installed in 2019
