Hey All,

I will be picking up my Stinger today (so excited) and this is my first car.

I want to know, do I need rustproofing done? if so then who can I get it done from in GTA?

What kind of rustproofing do I need to do?

Commenting to following this thread. Need to know too!

When I lived in PA, I had all of my winter vehicles Krown coated. If you plan on keeping the car for any length of time, I would absolutely do the same thing every year. The downside, it is messy and gross. The upside is that it just won't rust. Cars today still aren't rustproof, and there's a lot of steel in the Stinger.

Being in Canada, the only rustproofing I can wholeheartedly recommend is Krown.

Krown, or "Corrosion Free" would be my top choices Corrosion Free is a lot less messy, but harder to find

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Pickup my car today. Going to look into pricing on Corrosion Free in my local area.

There are some detailing shops in the West end of the city that do it... they are all around the same price

Looks like Canadian Tire offers it, though I probably will stick with the collision centres around me that do it. I would assume prices are same no matter where I go.

I imagine there is little to no difference in price, and agree that Canadian Tire shop will never touch my car for anything

I thought the stinger is zinc coated to prevent rust?

I'm pretty sure modern cars do not rust like old cars!

Save your money and buy something else for your car.

It looks like corrosion free is better.
Do we have to do it every year? what is the frequency to get it done?

Most of the oil based sprays require a yearly application and are around $100-$125 for an application. The dealers usually offer another product that is supposed to be a single application, it's like a waxy yellow substance but they mark it up quite a bit and usually try charging $500 or something like that when you're buying the car.

I think if you live in an environment that uses road salt or near the ocean it's probably worth doing if you plan to keep the car for a long period of time. If you plan to keep the car for 5 years or less it's probably not worth it. The effectiveness is highly debated.

Corrosion free is a 18 month cycle, so every year and half

@Luc343 - you should see the amount of salt we put on the roads here in the winter... plus the rust protection isn't so much about the body, but everything under the car... unless you like to pass the salt truck as it throws rock salt all over the side of your car

a couple of vids for you

Ok so what I see from people saying, corrosion-free is the way to go. When do we need to rustproof of our cars?

They actually recommend you do it in the warmer months because it helps with the creeping of the product versus the colder months. Most people do it in the fall and winter because that's when they think of it. I personally think the month of September is a good time.
