Greetings Fellow Stingerites,

Its been a little while. Last March when I first had my hood and roof wrapped in black 3M, though I was satisfied with the overall work, I was disappointed that the installers did not have time to wrap the trunk.

Earlier this evening I had the thought of returning to the shop and getting this final bit completed, then I thought- “why not do a little DIY around this?”

Now, the exact area I would like to wrap will be, specifically, the complete portion starting above the rear spoiler to the edge, and the flimsy piece where we put our larger custom “Stinger” font/badge. There are really no serious curves to contend with in this area so I can’t imagine it being to hard to scapel lightly along the edges/line on this area, after the smoothing out and tucking of the vinyl.

If anyone has performed this project, please comment on your experience, and provide any pictures you may have of the completed job.

Speaking of pictures, I’m attaching a pic that shows a carbon fiber replacement for the area (decklid) that I plan to wrap. Thanks in advance for any replies.

If i understand correctly you want to wrap the plate garnish area, is that correct? If so its not overly difficult to remove it so you coul work on it inside the house. Just need to rmove the interior trim pieces and its a few bolts and its off. If you plan on doing the decklid that i recommend doing on the car without a doubt.

Hi Deviate- yep, I had the hood and roof wrapped last March. I still need to get the trunk decklid wrappped. Plans for the trunk will be moved to Spring, as I’ve already made plans for it with the shop. Do you have any wrapping plans for the sting machine? Later, bro.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Only wrap plans are the braces under the hood. And i may just pick up a set of CF ones down the line. I already did them but need a redo. As for the rest of the car, there is potential for the roof. But everything else is actually CF. Hood, decklid, and the mirror caps. Im having my fender vents being overlayed at the moment actually. Oh i still need to get the trunk garnish.

So im guessing you didn't want to tackle the wrapping yourself?

No, I’m sure I could do a good job on the actual wrap, but I’m not dealing with the hassle of removing that decklid. I may still consider doing the wrap myself, as I’m sure if I perform good tucking techniques I could complete this small area without removing the decklid- but we’ll see. Otherwise, I’ve already alerted my shop for an appointment after the Winter.

I hear you. Its not all that bad honestly. Dont know if i got lucky or not, but when I switched out decklids it was only about 90min. I work slow nowadays and i had my daughter going whatcha doin? Whats that? So i was in no hurry. The plate area (garnish) i will probably have done by the end of the year. Gotta recoup some cash first.
