I'm debating paying a pro 1650 for a 7 year warranty application or buying a polisher and all other supplies and doing it myself knowing I will need to repeat every year or two. I keep cars 12 plus years before selling them. Thanks in advance.

If you have tons of money, pay the pro. If not, it is an easy process that'll cost you less than $150. 00 including surface prep.

If your car is brand new, I can't imagine why you'd need a DA polisher, but they sure are nice to have. I bought mine about ten years ago, still going strong.

Thanks MisterMac. It's about 5 months old and paint is in good shape but I would still like to give it a quick run with the polisher to get that extra special pop everyone is talking about since prep work is the key to success.

Cool!

For your first step, use an iron remover like this:

CarPro Iron X Iron Remover 1 Liter

Next, I suggest getting a clay bar towel, vs a clay bar for your next step after washing. It makes the job so much faster.

Clay Bar Towel, AutoCare Fine Grade Microfiber Clay Towel Automotive Detailing Towel Clay Bar Alternative for Car Detailing, Creative Gift-Blue, 1 Pack

Then polish with a DA polisher before the ceramic. It'll look amazing.

100% this!

Make sure your paint is as flawless as you can get it before locking it underneath the ceramic coating. Otherwise, you'll need to buff/polish it off in order to fix it and then reapply the ceramic. Because ceramic is so semi-permanent. I personally don't plan to use it but instead just a good wax I can reapply every so often, and if I need to fix some scratches/dings/paint I don't have to worry about the money I'm throwing away by removing the coating.
