Hi everyone,

Just got back from service. Car has 27,000km and I was informed my right hand side brake pads need to be replaced front and rear. The tech showed me the differences and the left side of the car looked lightly used while the right side were very low and needing replacement.

I asked the tech performing the work, what could cause this to happen and they had no answer for me. I was told by the desk service guy they have seen this on other stingers.

I am not very savvy when it comes to diagnosing car problems but I am learning.

History on brakes. They replaced my rotors (5 months ago) when it was in for a fuel pump issue. Probably deposits but they changed them without informing me until I picked it up.

My question is why is this happening? I searched google and the result was brakes could have got stuck rotors may have different wear.

Looks like an easy enough job to do myself but I dont want the same thing to happen again on the new pads.

Any ideas on what to look for when I change all 4 pads? I dont want this to happen again.

My local options seem to be:
1 - EBC green, red or yellow 4-7 week delivery
2 - Stoptech Centric PosiQuiet - in stock
3 - Power stop (various Z models).

Any recommendations one over the others?

Appreciate any constructive feedback

EBC red would be my suggestion, you could go green as well but red should have a bit more bite. Personally I would wait until you notice a pulsation in the pedal, which means the pads have left deposits and they will then replace the rotors under warranty again. Then you have new rotors and you can put on your new pads.

It's just an issue with the pads Kia uses, no way around it unless they're replaced.

Does the car pull to the right when braking? I’d be inclined to ask that a diaqgnostic be done on the ABS module to make sure all the channels (I.e.: driver’s side) are working properly.

No It does not pull to the right in the slightest when braking hard or soft.

I called my mechanic and he said the ABS might be delaying the fluid return on the right. The Kia dealership are saying it happens to many of their vehicles he has a forte in there now with the same scenario. They said debri could cause it. I know they are just trying to push the problem aside.

I brought up the abs system and he said if there is a problem/irregularity that the system would throw a code. I dont know enough about the ABS system to question his response.

Most people who they encounter with this problem probably just accept it.

But thanks for the response I will call them tomorrow about a diagnostics on the abs system.
