Display Goes Blank for Android Auto

Just recently my display has been going blank when I connect my Android phone via a USB cable. The audio stays on but the screen is completely blank. Android Auto is useless now. Tried reconnecting after turning the car off and back on but the screen goes blank every time. Bluetooth is on.

I've had that happen before but it was my phone issue.. i cleared my android auto cache on my phone/restarted phone and it worked... also could try the media reset on the car infotainment using a paperclip or something..

could it be your usb cord? also, is your phone updated, android auto app updated? i have a brand new usb cord, and if i move my phone around while its plugged into the car, it disconnects, screen goes blank.
