So today I was getting some pilot sport 4s put on my stock wheels to be my track tires. Well they messed up and I am trying to decide how much of a Karen to be about this. They put a rear on the front and it screwed up the wheel and one of the struts a bit looks like superficial on the strut. They are already replacing the wheel dunno if I should push for a new strut also. Pics included. Car is getting new brake pads tomorrow for the track tomorrow so I am going to get the mechanics imput. Just thought I would share the story and get y'all's imput. 20220620_090619.webp20220620_091205.webp

Push for a new wheel and 2 struts (suspension parts get replaced in pairs).

When I had my tires put on, I watched them carefully and verified the work before leaving. It is after all HS kids and may early 20 yr olds working on the cars.

With the wheel itself rubbing against the strut, what kind of other damage did it do... bent strut or something else?

how does that even happen? did they put the rear wheels on the front? that sucks!!!

Holy crap, a 255 tire and 8.5 wide wheel with 46.5 offset: how could they NOT see this??? The wheel wouldn't even spin freely with the car raised, or if it did, it would only barely clear, and by sight they should know that on the ground it won't work at all. Spinning the wheel is bog standard procedure before lowering the car. Just be insistent but pleasant. Two brand new struts and a new wheel: they are going to eat this one. It should be less costly than losing you and having you tell your experience all over the Net.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I'm just going in for a wheel rotation/balance later this week. Square set up but im still marking my tires in case they screw that up.

Well you’d really have to question the level of training they give their employees & the level of commonsense & mechanical aptitude the individual has that did this.
Like others have said the shop has to put all this right, a new wheel & a pair of new struts.

Bet that was a lovely noise, holy crap.

New wheel and two new struts please.

100% they should replace 2 x wheels AND 2 x NEW struts !

Both struts and wheels are damaged, and it's their fault.
They're legally obligated to fix the damage they caused.

They MIGHT try to install used items which I'd say should be fine for the wheels, but not the struts since you have no idea how bad used struts are internally. Some struts available as used items were involved in an accident and can be defective ( even if they 'look' OK ).

If they don't come to the party, smash em on social media and or go after them in court.

I think you should definitely seek replacement of the struts (ie. the pair) given the damage caused is a direct result of the work they performed. It's not like the car got damaged beyond their control by some other third-party while it was in their care, like someone else backed into it or whatever.

Without meaning to sound like a Karen, this isn't some grocery-getter runabout second-hand Camry that doesn't matter if it gets bashed around in a carpark or on the school run. This is a $70K performance car and you have spent top dollar with them getting the correct performance tyres rather than cutting costs on lesser expensive alternatives. This car and its condition are important to you, which is why you have not scrimped on costs.

And cowboy is right - if ever there is a warranty issue Kia will quite likely hold you responsible with that damage evident.

You'd be pissed if you did that yourself. No doubt the business owner is pissed that one of his/her staff did that too, but that's unfortunate. Tyre replacement is what they do, and they damaged your car while doing it.

Bloody hell, what a tale of incompetence!!! You should definitely seek a new wheel and new strut!!!

Got the tires rotated/balanced today. No damage to the car, but they did manage to add 50K mi to the odo. No attention to detail.

Two techs worked on the car. Use the term loosely, as I believe only one of them was a "tech". He hustled to get the job done quickly. I'd say in his early 30's. The other was a kid, early 20's? This guy couldn't move his ass if his life depended on it. Taking his time in each step. Then the cell rings and of course he has to answer it.

Big revolving door in the shop. Inside staff could only identify one individual from the last time I was there.

Ironically inside there's a we're hiring sign.
