So, I had the dreaded trunk hatch issue but it was only on one side, sounded like it was coming from the rear passenger side tire area. I took it into the dealership and they fixed it by replacing the rear hatch latch assembly.

Now I just noticed a new issue. The outside trunk lid doesn't seem as secure, you can lift up the actual outside trunk lid body panel. Is it possible that they just didn't secure everything back or have other people had this issue with the outside part of the trunk lid? Most of the trunk rattle issues are about the inside, not the outside.

Do you mean the panel behind the license plate or the "spoiler"?

The entire panel that the license plate is mounted to, at the very outer edge of the outside of the trunk lid. Mat have to take a pic of what I mean.

I bet that "they" didn't fasten it back on entirely. I'm sure it just clips on; everything else does, heh!:P

Soooooo, update. Took the car in this morning to get the recall done. Had em look at the outside trunk lid. This is what they said.

Nobody else has this or noticed this before? I couldn't physically check myself as the car they said they compared it to was another customers car, as they didn't have any Stinger's on the lot. I would think someone would have noticed this before.

if you are talking about the top of the trunk lid on the "spoiler" part, that does move up and down over the lighting if you push down or pull up on ours as well from new.

Nope, talking about the bottom edge of the trunk lid. Will try to take a pic.

So I took a pic. On the outter edge of the trunk lid, it lifts up a little bit, like it's not 100% secure, can easily push that part up with one finger. They claim that's normal.

Not normal; you can see sound deadening foam inside that lifted edge.

Not on mine. And you can't move anything with your finger either. That panel is secured along the entire edge.

You're referring to the spoiler which is secured by a number of bolts. Pull the plastic trim off and check if all are tight.

So, you're saying those areas that you have circled should tighten down the entire panel, including the outter edge that I'm referring to?

I believe so.

Aha, I was somewhat mistaken about my license plate panel not being movable. It can be pried out along the bottom edge, but that's just plastic flex, not a loose problem. Here's a video showing how much I can move it with my thumb: DSCF0483.MOV

That's exactly what mine does. Doesn't require much force to do it either. I will still try to tighten it all down as was mentioned above, see if that fixes the issue. Might as well take care of the trunk rattle while I have it all apart.

You're going to take it APART!? Unless you can fit fingers up in there, in my humble opinion it ain't broke. A fastening issue would have one end or the other looser than the other end; or maybe in the middle it'd be loose and the end(s) still tighter. My panel is consistent along its length. From your pic it shows the insulation inside that edge; whereas I can't see any of that unless I actually push the edge away with my thumb. Maybe that's just a trick of the flash you used; that's what I think.

The only thing I'd be doing is removing part of the plastic trim piece to try and tighten down the bolts. If it does the trick then it's worth it imo. If not, then of course it's wasted effort but I might as well give it a try. Plus, the dealer "fix" for the hatch rattle didn't work, so I might as well take care of that while I'm back there.

Did you ever get this fixed? I just put a deck lid on and was looking at the plate garnish panel (where you have an issue) to see what i needed to do if i cf that as well. Anyway if you hadn't gotten it fixed, double check all the decklid bolts make sure they are tight. Might help with the rattle issue some. You will have to take all the plastic panels off around the glass, and the bumpers on the sides. Most of my rattle has gone since i swaped decklids. As for your loose panel, lotta clips and if i remember correctly a couple of bolts to secure everything. Maybe a clip is broken so its not grabbing the metal like it should. And check the bolts to be sure they are tight. Hopefully you get it fixed.
