So, I have a weird issue. I damaged the lens on one of my headlights. I'd rather replace it out of pocket than go through the insurance. I found one pulled from a damaged car for next to nothing, but it seems like there are multiple versions? The only thing resembling a part number is on the LED module, and that pulls up a light without dynamic bending. I have a USDM 2018 GT2, which SHOULD have that option. There's a sticker on the top that reads J22R, and the light I'm looking at has J12R, so maybe not the same? Any ideas?

92102-J5120 is the number on the module, looks like 92102-j5220 has the dynamic bending lights... mine always turned with the wheel, so unless there's another feature I'm unaware of, I'm not sure what I should be ordering .

was the damaged car a gt2 as well?? I'm pretty sure only the gt2 got the dynamic bending lights. all other gt and gt1 got led headlamps that look the same but do not have that feature.

I've sent the seller a message, but it's been days and he hasn't replied. I'm pondering just using it, if it plugs right in. Or swapping the lenses, but it looks to be a long painstaking process to do that.

Well. For anyone who was interested in this at all, I have an update. I'll just drop what I learned here, for anyone curious. I doubt anyone else is quite as dumb as I am to try this though.

  • J22R and J12R are definitely different lights.
  • The lens on the front is a module, all of the turn signal LEDs including the corner marker are mounted to it.
  • The projector lenses inside the housing are plastic, and if you are not extremely careful, quite easy to scratch. Ask me how I know.
  • The physical differences are somewhat subtle. They also appear to have some wiring differences, but I'm not going to explore those because I'm more interested in getting my car back on the road.
  • The module controlling the entire affair is identical, so I assume it can detect the lack of the dynamic bending lights and still operate from chassis to chassis. I didn't test this, mostly because the light I received appears to be from a flood car, judging by the amount of sand and rust inside of it. Not willing to risk an electrical fire to find out.
  • The Ebay seller is a lying prick when it comes to his item description, but whatever. The car is whole again and I'm ahead 1100 dollars, so I'm not going to complain.

I'll post some pictures later, when I'm done and have more time.

Hello @SavageVariant,
I'm currently looking for a headlight replacement for my 2018 GT2 Stinger on Ebay, and trying to find out the correct item by the photos as almost no one fills in the full item number.

Is it possible to say which one headlight is by the body?
The physical differences are somewhat subtle.
I also saw the stickers saying J22R and J12R, I thought it's part of the whole part number (92102-J5220 and 92102-J5120 respectively), but in some lots description and sticker were saying differently).

If it's a USDM GT2, you definitely want the 22. The housings are identical, the only external means of determining which is which is that sticker. The internals are interchangeable, but nothing is accessible without removing the lens. That, and calibrating/ adjusting the motor and armature for the dynamic bending light isn't a task I'd like to tackle. I'll go through my pictures when I'm off work, see if I have anything that may be helpful to you.20201130_165532.jpg
This is the internal view of the 12

This is the 22 (with the projector lenses removed)

After looking again, the housings are the same molding, with identical part numbers. I don't know if that helps, but it is what I've got currently. Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks for the reply!

After spending hours on ebay, comparing the lots, I gave up and ordered the one with J22 sticker, despite it was saying in the description that it's without dynamic bending. Now I will wait for the delivery with crossed fingers.

BTW, I also saw few lots, where the sticker was whipped out so it is nearly impossible to detect which is it without photos from the inside.

I will post more details after receiving it. Hope this will be helpful, as there is no other information on the Internet regarding these headlights.

So finally I've received my headlamp (delivery to Ukraine takes some time).
I didn't want to take off the front glass, so I've managed to "look inside" using a flashlight and a camera :)

If you are looking for the headlight with dynamic bending, pay attention to this sticker - it's on the top saying J22 (R for right, L for Left). J12 is without dynamic bending.

However, sometimes on used headlamps, this sticker can't be read.
So I was looking for the adjustment motor, which is located on the right bottom side of the lens block. It was hard but possible.

Hope that this information can be useful for somebody else. As for me, I got this lamp in great condition (looked as new) for under $500.

Hi, I am looking for right reflector to Kia stinger gt2 2019 - Mark J22R. Anybody want to sell?

Do any of you know if the eu spec headlights work on usdm Kia stingers? I have a 2022 Kia stinger GT two with adaptive headlights. I have to replace both headlights. I have found a set of European headlights with adaptive. Will I be able to use those European version headlights and will they plug right in or will I lose the adaptive function or get any codes or have to modify the connectors?

I would check the part numbers, first off. Don't bother with the listing online, just use a Kia parts search from each region. If they match, you're golden. I would GUESS they are the same. But that would be a guess. When I get out of work today I'll check for you.

Edit: also check the controller part number. If the lights are different but use the same controller, you should be good.

It never occurred to me to check the part number, though one of the headlamps has the j22L sticker, the other is faded. I will ask them for the numbers etched on the headlight case and the module. I think I’m satisfied with the j22 sticker as proof of compatibility.

I also tried to find the part number for each region but it seems like the rest of the world doesn’t offer parts in the same fashion as we do here because I couldn’t find anywhere in the eu, uk or au that sell Kia stinger parts.

Exactly what I ran into! Boy I’m glad I live here!!!

Savage, you have earned your name. The info you have provided me is invaluable.

The part numbers to the module are different. She can't find the headlight part number and provided me with the module part number which when i looked it up revealed a non us module. 92190-j5100. I nearly paid for the invoice she sent me thinking they would plug right up. This was based on info I received from a CSR at vivid racing, being his rationale that he's sold plenty of parts for euro market that function without modifying. Thanks again for your persistent desire to assist me. You're.... A SAVAGE!!!
