I took my 2019 Stinger in for it's first service and was shocked with a $250 bill for an oil change (and that should be another thread) but when I got home I noticed that over a 1/3 of my front left wheel now had a lot of curb rash. The dealership agreed to replace the wheel, as they should, but after further inspection at home (40 miles away), we noticed the "bezel" of the wheel is an 1/8" narrower than the original wheel. The spokes are also narrower, so this new wheel doesn't match. I know most people wouldn't even notice the difference but we definitely do. Not sure why the new wheel would be different. Waiting for the dealership to return my call which they aren't doing since I didn't purchase the car from them. I hate having to put the damaged wheel back on but at least it would match the rest. Any ideas about this?

They didn't replace your 19" heel with an 18" did they?

No, it's the 19" wheel and I had to remind them it was a front wheel and not the back. The service manager wasn't even aware the wheels are two different sizes or that they require different air pressures even.

A replica perhaps? Would be a cheaper alternative for the dealer. Replica wheels often have a shallower concave and less aggressive offset to save on cost.

Thanks, definitely didn't think of that.... How would I find out for sure if it's a replica?

Take it off and look on the inside for part number and KIA logo

Is that a replica in your photo? That's the exact same numbers on the replacement wheel. The other wheel definitely says "Kia" on it, along with TPMS and Reg 000240/2017 and J5230. So I'm thinking that's exactly what they did, put a replica on which is not acceptable. Just one problem after another with this dealership.

No, it's OEM front. Can you post pics of both your front wheels.

I was able to use my phone inside the wheel to get pics as best I could.

So you have one wheel with J5210 and one with J5230. Time to ask dealer for an explanation.

Yes, the replacement wheel is the J5210 and we want the original J5230. I'll be finding out tomorrow if the wheel with the curb rash is also J5230 but I'm sure it is. I'm sure most people wouldn't notice the difference but when it's your Stinger, the difference is obvious and annoying!

Unfortunately, they are the only dealership near us. The next closest is 420 miles away, where I bought the car, as I didn't like the "local" dealership. But I thought the local place would be good for service at least. Boy, was I wrong.....

That makes it very hard to choose another then. Lets hope they do a better job next time.

I'm going to guess that as the Aus wheels match the replacement wheel, and the Aus wheels are OEM, there are two batches of wheels and the dealership is not aware of this. One source is supposed to be matched up, not mixing up wheels from the two different sources. I don't think that there is a cheaper aftermarket source that the dealership is trying to pull a sneaky with. I think that this is an honest mistake.

OP: At this point, I'd just ask for my original wheel back, repaired. That would be way cheaper for the dealer as well. Good fortune!

When I searched for the number on the replacement wheel, 52910-J5210, it comes back as an OE Replica. The original wheel, 52910-J5230, comes back as Factory OEM. Guess we'll see what the dealership has to say.

Seeing as how you've had all these issues with the dealership, I would just tell them to put the OEM wheel back on and ask for a full refund price for a new OEM wheel. Tell them you don't trust them after this last fiasco and will purchase it on your own. I'd then turn around and use those funds toward a set of aftermarket wheels. You can get the curb rash repaired for about $100 probably.

Not always. There is this OEM "reconditioned" wheel. KIA STINGER WHEEL RIM MACHINED GREY HOL.74774-MGM-A Dang! That's pricey!

Here's another: 2018-2019 Kia Stinger Wheel, Alloy 52910-J5210 - KiaAutoParts.com - Genuine Kia Parts | Kia Auto Parts No mention, either, of being an "OE Replica".

Warning: Protect Your Wheels!

There really shouldn't be any confusion with this: but there is. The dealer you are working with can be forgiven. Don't burn your bridges too soon, is my advice. :) (I'm sure you won't, because of the lack of alternatives.:P)

The 20th anniversary edition we got in Canada had a very similar BUT slightly different wheel , I'll bet thats what you got , from your pics I would say thats the answer , maybe ask for all 4 of them !

Good luck

They don't fit the set, and IMHO - they are not very pretty either. Sorry for being a prig to prick your balloon.:whistle::whistle:
