I find it interesting that dealers can get upset when people share the good deals they got, but don't disclose a majority of their business model. Dealers and the public know that deals will vary based on several factors(location, how many of the car they have, credit, financing, what you trade, time of the month, time of day, how long the car has been there, how unique it is, quotas, budget, who you talk to at the dealership, incentives attached to a VIN, annnnnd etc.). I see hundreds on this forum, among several other forums that people will share the prices they paid. Leasehackr is based completely on people posting their numbers and offers from dealers and getting rated on it. Forums even have sales folks and managers from dealerships who promote special deals that are available for a limited time. So why would a dealer get upset if someone posts their price paid? There's nothing to say you can't, and it drums up more interest and business in their dealership.

Makes no sense in this day and age where almost everything is online. People will shop around as there isn't one place to go for cars, you want to make sure you are being taken advantage or or in some cases being royally ripped off. Sounds like companies not wanting folks to discuss their salaries. It gets out. It makes sense if you explain why things are the way they are and work with the client, I'll decide if I want to pay your price or not. If your price was really that great, let me go shop and then come back. Don't do the high pressure thing of this is the price, today only, you won't get this again if you come back. It's most likely that I will not.

It seems to me that the moderators on this forum work for the dealership.

The dealers know this, the public (ie a majority of people buying cars) don’t.

Dealers don’t like it because someone will come in and say, hey you sold this guy this car for $x a month. Sell it to me for that. But they can’t because of the reasons you stated above. Now that person goes on a forum and bashes the dealership for not giving a good deal.

Not saying they are right for being upset but it makes sense why they do.

Nope, some of just understand how the car industry works and don’t get upset by the normal day to day actions of dealers.
