You can definitely do that, but it all comes down to how the dealers cooperate with you. The dealer that owns the exact Stinger you want has to be willing to give it up (some dealers are being super stingy with their Stingers and won't trade them), and the dealership you're working with needs to be willing to work with you on transportation. My question is, can I go to my dealer and have him get the color and trim I want from a dealer in a different state? And how hard would this be since stingers are popular?
Not a problem, keep in mind most dealerships will only trade a state or 2 away. You might have to find a really special dealership if you're trying to get a car that is half way across the country.I think I’ll do that! Thanks, appreciate info.
I found a car I like 2 states away. I’ll run it by my dealer! Thanks againNot a problem, keep in mind most dealerships will only trade a state or 2 away. You might have to find a really special dealership if you're trying to get a car that is half way across the country.
Nice! I need a car pretty soon, my tranny on my Acura TL-s died. So I’ll try to get the dealer to swap, if that falls then I’ll have to look into getting a different color.I ran into this with my car. Some dealers will swap Stinger for Stinger. Out of 5 that had my specs, only one agreed to trade and that car had more miles on it (150) than I was willing to accept so I told them "no thanks." I then had my dealer order it from Kia port stock which takes about 2-3 weeks to transport from the port lot or a bit longer if the car is still on the boat coming over. Depends on what you want and how long you are willing to wait on it. I'm still waiting for March 6. At this point, there are no custom orders for U.S. customers, although some New Zealanders claim they were able to custom order cars but wait time is 6 months.
mldavis, what color and specs are you getting?
@mldavis2 I'm so excited you're finally going to get your baby! I have a feeling that starting March 6 you'll be hard to find on the forums for a bitI originally ordered a GT1 HiChroma Red, AWD, DriveWise 19" but they don't make them that way -- or at least there are none in the pipeline anywhere. Long story (see my post elsewhere called "They Lost My Order" for the whole story.
Anyway had to cough up another $3,900 for a HiChroma Red GT2 AWD 19" due March 6.
Tell me about it! Had the car for a month today and still haven't hit 600mi yet!Yeah, break-in takes a long time.....and the wife is away.![]()
