Not sure what my best course of action is here. I just bought a 2019 Stinger GT AWD and explicitly asked if it came from the factory with All-Seasons or Summers due to the speed limiter. She informed me it came with All-Seasons. I asked if it was like that or if they swapped them in house. She said they swapped them there. Well, tonight we got the beginning of a pretty nasty snow storm right as my family and I arrived at a restaurant for dinner. We left the restaurant a while later and the snow had covered the road pretty well and was still coming down. I noticed it seemed rather slick and chalked it up to the weather as the reason I was sliding whenever I tried to stop or accelerate. I damn near spun out a few times on the way home and again figured it must have been the weather. Well, I arrive home and get to talking to my neighbor and decide to check the tires, the damn thing still has the Pilot Sports on it AFTER the sales lady told me without a doubt via text message that it had all seasons which I confirmed again right after she told me. Fact is they put my family in danger by sending me on my way with a vehicle that was NOT equipped for the road conditions. If I had caused a accident it would have been my ass when the police arrived. Am I right in assuming this is on them?

Just go back and ask to be supplied with what you ordered. And, drive slowly!

It is if you have the text message as proof.

I think this is something you should have visually confirmed when you bought the car. I also think the dealership should replace the tires, since the salesperson said it was done.

No way I can make it that distance tomorrow with those tires. I'm going to try to get there to pick the tires up.
.
Can the dealer come to you and swap?

I'm going to pick them up tomorrow, I'm just angry that they lied about the tires that were on the vehicle.

I'm in Vermont, a state where ALL dealerships are familiar with the weather. I shouldn't have to check the tires when I am told TWICE that they swapped the summers for all seasons. It would be one thing if I bought it without asking and just drove off. They sold it to me knowing I was informed that the tires had been swapped and also knowing I was putting my child in the vehicle.

A vermonter rocking all season tires? I read that and sprayed heady topper right out me nose.

When you purchased the car, the dealer should have done a walk around with you. It is at this time, that most buyers inspect the car to see that it is as the contract states and any verbal agreements are honored. If you had crashed the car, the dealership would possibly be responsible because of the text message stating their "we owe" obligation as part of the sale. However, if anyone died or was injured you would have to deal with that and the dealer being responsible would be of little consolation to you.

Dealerships are fallible too and make honest mistakes just like the rest of us. It is the dishonest mistakes that get them in trouble. As the driver of the car, it is ultimately your responsibility to check. Fortunately, no one was hurt and you have the text message that should get you the proper tires you asked for.

Fixed that for you.

GFY, I shouldn't need to second guess everything a dealer says when I asked MULTIPLE times and was told it had all seasons on it.

You don't NEED winters here if you don't drive like a idiot. All seasons are generally sufficient and if the conditions are so bad that they aren't, stay off the roads. I've been driving in this state for the last 22 years and never had a issue whether I was rocking all seasons or winters.

Same here. Was going to need two sets anyway, it just hastened the purchase.

Hahahahahahahha it’s not like they told you it had synthetic oil and it had conventional and there was no way for you to check. There are 4 big/easy places to check what tires are on the car. Take some personal responsibility and stop blaming others because you screwed up.

So what tires did it say it had on the window sticker and/or the dealer website? Cause mine said summer tires.

Mine said that as well which is why I specifically asked what tires it had. She said All Season, I said ok, it says summer on the tag so you switched them out for all seasons at the dealership?. She said, "Yes, we swapped them here". I was very clear when I asked and I confirmed it after to be 100% sure she understood the question.

Sorry that happened buddy.

Whoa. The thread seems to be getting nasty. Per the OP, I say - "lesson learned". Like I always told my kids: "if you don't look out for yourself, no one else will". That, and never trust a car salesman! My 2 cents: buy a set of winter wheels and tires. With the staggered 19's/running UHP tires for the summer (and the inability to do a proper rotation), in the long run you'll save money, and just as important you'll get more enjoyment (and confidence) when driving the GT2 during your long winter months.

And a staff member/moderator is the one of two who made it nasty. Certainly not the first time in regards to this one.;-)

Next I suppose you'll tell me that you use log cabin maple syrup and eat vegan pork substitutes ya flatlander.

JK and cheers. Glad you made it home
