So I picked my stinger up yesterday and it only had one fob. When I asked for the other one they said it was in the car when it went to the tint shop and they would order a new one. When I brought up the security issue of now having a lost or stolen fob in a fairly small town they said they reprogram all the fobs and the car to a new code. Is this true or are the bull@&itn’ me?

but yes... The Fob is coded to the Car's alarm etc. you don't want to take the car unless you have confirmed everything is working as the manual says.. read it. also make sure you are the only one with the codes. the car might go missing (with one of those dealerships that loses fobs.

Sounds dodgy to me. Get two new keys and diff codes. Make them pay of course!

And stay with them when they pair the new and old key with the car. Just to be sure there is no third key they are adding.
They will have to hook up a laptop to the OBDII and pair each key. New fobs come ‘empty’ and the car will transmit the code for the fob to remember

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
What about the backup key that is inside the remaining fob? I highly doubt they are going to replace the backup lock inside the door handle as well as the backup key in the existing fob. I’m not sure how the car would react if the door was opened using the backup key without the fob present. I would think that someone could get inside using the backup key without any sign of forced entry which is annoying enough. Pretty ridiculous that the dealer complicated things at this level, especially since the keys for this car are so easily recognizable. It’s not like it’s a generic Kia or Toyota fob.

Never thought of that.......They probably can’t start the car that way, but I indeed would insist that the dealer changes this lock too

This is what I am worried about. Isn’t there an RF module in the car that has a predetermined code in it that is paired with my cars VIN? To properly secure my vehicle wouldn’t they need to replace or reprogram that RF module then the keys to match it?

Oh man... How can they be so irresponsible??
I would never go back to that dealer again if that happened to me.
Write up a long review on Google of how things went down. When the dealer service manager sees it or one of the upper management, they will definitely contact you to correct the issue but it seems like they are handling it already.

Pretty sure only two FOB can be active at any given time.

The manual key to open the door is another story. however, cannot start the car with that so little chance of the car going missing

I don't think the manual keys are duplicates. They are engraved so there can be many variations as my G8 showed when I tried to get into the wrong car by mistake at the dealers. And I think the manual does say that only 2 keys can be programmed for each car. So if the hard-key is different and you get two new fobs, you should be golden.

The hard key opens the door and glovebox. Those will need to be changed too. How many Stingers in your area. You’ll be found.
